Summary: The after-reactions of JUMP members to Ryutaro's stalking incident last June
Disclaimer: I don't own JE
The day after JUMP learned Ryutaro had been getting stalked for half a year, Yabu pulled the group's baby into a warm hug. For once, Ryutaro didn't protest and simply took comfort from the older boy's concern, as he had yet to fully recover from the experience.
Takaki was glowering the whole time and it sort of frightened him. He thought maybe he overstepped some unmarked territory by letting Yabu touch him. Ryutaro was reminded of a younger age, when seeing the still-black-haired, now-a-brunette boy made him think of a delinquent who squatted on the streets just staring people down. As a result, he tried to avoid Takaki as a junior.
But when he spoke to Inoo about it later, when the older boy asked him why he was looking so pale, the university genius just laughed and ruffled his hair affectionately. He explained fondly that Takaki was just pissed off at the stalker, not at him, and besides, he was the one dating Yabu, not Takaki.
Hikaru sat down on his other side and without any words nor greetings. He simply handed Ryutaro a bottle of ice cold water. The mood maker of the group didn't even mention the stalking incident, though it must have been on his mind. But the fact that Hikaru, for once, wasn't cracking a joke meant he was really worried and trying to hide it without breaking the atmosphere with necessary crack.
Daiki caught him unawares on his way to the restroom, but instead of laughing at him for jumping like a startled rabbit, the small BEST member apologized, asking with great concern whether he was alright or not. When Ryutaro reassured him he was fine, Daiki continued to look at him with worry and offered him boxes of his favorite Pocky, a great rarity indeed.
Whereas BEST had been able to act somewhat normal around him, 7 couldn't, seeing as they were closer to Ryutaro. The atmosphere was somber when Ryutaro walked in on Yuuto and Keito practicing their instruments. Both band members offered to walk him home that day, seeing how they lived in the same direction and all. Politely, Ryutaro declined, and to get the subject off him, he asked them how their practice was going. Looking at each other, Yuuto and Keito reluctantly dropped it.
Yamada wasn't as subtle. He went straight up to Ryutaro, told Yuuto and Keito to stop being so damn loud, and asked Rytuaro furiously where the damn bastard was now so he could beat the guy to a bloody pulp. Unfortunately, it was within Yabumama's hearing range and Yamada got pulled aside for a long lecture on the use of his language around young children.
Ryutaro turned to Chinen as he came in, half expecting something from the shorter boy as well. To his disappointment, all he got was a "You're an idiot, Ryutaro, be more careful next time" before the acrobat stalked off to save Yamada, which was really just getting his lap couch back. Chinen's lack of concerned compared to everyone else bothered Ryutaro for a moment, but then he shrugged it off. What else could he expect from Chinen?

That weekend, Ryutaro had to watch the house alone. Everything was going fine until the doorbell rang and his books fell to his floor with a loud clatter. Cautiously, he made his way through the house. Yeah, it was stupid to be feeling this jittery in your own home, but after what happened that night, it wasn't like he could help himself.
For a moment, as the doorbell rang a second time, he debated whether or not to just ignore the doorbell, and act like no one was home. After all, it couldn't be anything important, but then it rang again, and he had to wonder who would ring three times in less than five minutes. A desperate knocking started up and he had a wild panic moment as he imagined that 17 year old guy had come back.
The worry dissipated the next instant when he heard a voice calling, "Ryu-chan? Ryu-chan, are you home?"
Even though the voice sounded muffled and distant from outside, Ryutaro would've known who it was anywhere. Only one person called him 'Ryu-chan' (just to annoy him really, but he would never admit he actually liked it).
He reached the door, stepping (it was an accident) on Shintaro's shoes and opening it. "Hi, Chi-"
The rest of his sentence was cut off by a miniature cannonball body slamming itself into him. Already used (and trained) to Chinen's attacks even before he's seen the other boy, Ryutaro managed to stumble backwards without losing his balance as he had done so before during less experienced times. Unluckily, karma was in town because he stepped (it really was an accident!) on Shintaro's shoes again and felt a feeling of nostalgia wash over him as he fell.
"Ow, ow, ow..." Ryutaro rubbed the spot on his elbow which he'd landed on, wincing as he did so. A fluttering feeling that had nothing to do with panic or paranoia rushed through him when a pair of small arms slid around his neck and a light weight settled itself on his stomach.
"Ryu-chan..." Chinen's voice sounded shaky and he busied himself with burrowing his head against Ryutaro. So apparently Chinen wasn't as uncaring he acted a few days ago.
"Hi, Chinen-kun." Ryutaro smiled (even if Chinen couldn't see) and patted him awkwardly on the back. "C-could you let go a bit?" He placed his hands on the older boy's shoulders to gently push him away. Bad move.
Chinen promptly hugged him even tighter, practically gluing himself on Ryutaro. "Ryu-chan..."
"Needs...oxygen..." Ryutaro half choked, gagging a bit.
Chinen suddenly gave a sob, cuing for the raindrops to start falling and the guilt to kick in.
"Chinen-kun!" Ryutaro's panic level rose again as his automatic response whenever the older boy started crying.
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" His already pitchier than normal voice rose higher with each separate word as he shook Ryutaro furiously.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Ryutaro patted his head, his brain rattling inside his own.
"Why didn't you tell me? Why did I have to see that on the news?!" Chinen demanded, then his voice turned quiet and sad. "Why don't you trust me?"
"It's not that!" Ryutaro's mind worked furiously as he tried to figure out the quickest way to make Chinen stop bawling. "I...I just didn't want to...worry you..." Even as his voice trailed off, he could hear it was a weak argument and wasn't going to make the situation any better.
It didn't.
He winced as his head was forcefully jerked to one side, a stinging pang beginning to crawl up his left cheek.
"Don't give me that crap!" Chinen was looking pissed off now as well. And looking cute as hell too, he might add.
"D-did you have to hit so hard?" Ryutaro was hoping to distract him.
Chinen's mouth continued to tug downwards with unhappiness and Ryutaro sighed, running a hand through his hair. As he watched, the older boy's mouth began trembling and he could see his eyes becoming watery again.
The 14 year old cursed inside his head and cupped his bandmate's face, drying his eyes before the torrent of tears could flood again. "Come on, it's over already," he told him gently. "You know I hate seeing you cry."
Chinen looked torn between forgiving Ryutaro or not. The younger boy smiled to himself as he leaned forward to help him settle his internal conflicts. He heard the older boy's breath hitch for a moment before it was released in a little whimpering sigh after their chaste kiss.
"Don't ever freak me out like that again," Chinen ordered him, glaring at him with a glint in his eyes. "Otherwise, you'll never get another moment of privacy, ever again."
"Okay, I promise." Quickly, Ryutaro kissed him on the nose, making a blush crawl across the older boy's face. "I'm sorry for scaring you like that," he added softly.
"W-well, as long as you know." Chinen was looking down as Ryutaro wrapped his arms around the older boy's small body, simply taking comfort from his warmth. "Just let me know if anyone bothers you again," the older boy murmured, cuddling up against Ryutaro. "'Ryu-chan belongs to me, so only I can stalk him."
A/N: This is super late, so sorry, had a lot of distractions. I wrote half of this ages ago, and the other half a few days ago, then slammed both together, hence the awkwardness btwn the breaks.
I think this will be the last fic I'll post before I go on a hiatus; school starts for me next Thursday, but I'm moving into dorms this Sunday and flying up to my college on Saturday. Until next time then.
