Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Yamada heard his door bell ring, and reluctantly untangled himself from Takaki's arms to see who it was. It kept ringing, over and over again, incessantly.
"Okay, okay, I'm coming!" He opened it, blinking with surprise to see Ryutaro staring at him with an expressionless face. "Ryutaro? What do you wa-?"
A fist came at him and he quickly dodged it, only to have his collar pulled forward roughly. Now seriously pissed off, he snapped short-temperedly, "What the hell, Ryutaro?!"
"I thought you liked Chinen! Why did you have to hurt him like that?"
"Chinen?" Yamada paused, feeling disorientated. He thought Ryutaro was trying to get back at all those times he lost to him before.
"Don't play dumb, Yamada!" Eyes widening, Yamada had to admit he was startled. He'd never seen Ryutaro this worked up before. Well maybe he had, but not for a long time at the very least. "You know Chinen likes you. Why did you encourage him when you already have a boyfriend?!"
"I wasn't encouraging him! What do you mean by that anyways?"
"Letting him sit on your lap for one thing. Saying he was cute for another. That's not really something friends would do, is it?"
"Are you blind, Ryutaro?" Yamada rolled his eyes, forcibly prying the younger boy's hands off him. "I let him sit on my lap because that was part of the deal with we made. And that was only once! I told him I wouldn't let him do that again. As for calling him cute...you don't get it Ryutaro? Are you sure you're smart?"
Looking insulted, the younger boy frowned. "What are you talking about? Of course I'm smart!"
"Then you should've realized I was teasing you," Yamada exclaimed.
"Eh?" Now Ryutaro just looked plain confused. Yamada got a sudden temptation to just whack him.
"You like Chinen, don't you?" Ryutaro opened his mouth instantly to protest, but Yamada wasn't going to hear any of that. "Why else would you be here now? Plus, I've seen how you look at him when you're together. Trust me, it's obvious you have feelings for him. And!" Yamada spoke louder so this next portion was emphasized. "He has feelings for you, too."
"T-that ridiculous!" For whatever reason, Ryutaro was acting flustered now. "He can't possibly like me..."
"Why not?" Yamada questioned him.
"Cuz he likes you," Ryutaro mumbled, looking down.
"....you didn't deny the fact that you like him," the older boy pointed out.
"Well, I-!" Ryutaro gulped, looking like a cornered dog. "Maybe a bit."
"Maybe a bit what?" Yamada pressed for more. He was sounding more and more like Yuuto now.
"Maybe a bit, I....likehim." Ryutaro looked like he didn't know whether he should be embarrassed or furious at Yamada. A long silence passed before Ryutaro finally asked, "What makes you say he likes me then?"
"Oh I don't know." Yamada's voice was forcibly casual. "Just the way he was clinging onto you today and then Yuuto was complaining about the damage his phone took when Chinen dropped it cuz he heard your voice..."
Ryutaro stubbornly remained silent, glaring at Yamada who met his stare steadily. "What do you want me to do then? Confess to him?"
Yamada threw him an incredulous look. "Duh! Isn't that the most obvious thing to do?!"
"When? Now?"
Yamada shrugged. "Whenever you see him again." Pausing briefly, he suddenly remembered something. "Hold on, I'll be right back." He ran into his room, where Takaki gave him a curious look but didn't say anything as he grabbed a schoolbag and returned. "Here, give this back to Chinen." He shoved it into Ryutaro's hands. "Now go deal with your own problem. I'm busy." And before Ryutaro could say another word, he slammed the door in his face, turning to see Takaki coming up to him with a very amused expression. "What?"
"Nothing. Just reminded me of the way you were when we first met."
"What? Me being a stubborn kid like that? No way!" Yamada folded his arms across his chest, puffing out his cheeks, which promptly became targets for poking by Takaki's fingers.

Chinen had no idea where he was going. He was just letting his legs carry him to wherever. But it didn't really matter where he went, the image of Ryutaro kissing him wouldn't leave. He could still see the image of the younger boy perfectly clear in his mind and when he closed his eyes to shake it away, he could feel Ryutaro's mouth pressed gently against his.
"AH! Go away!" Chinen pounded his head, unable to stop his heart from racing twice as fast as usual. It was no use. His thoughts kept turning back to Ryutaro, even against his will. "Why...?" Cautiously, Chinen touched the spot Ryutaro had kissed, feeling it tingle weirdly. "Why did he do that...?"
He couldn't even explain his own actions. His face began to heat up again when he remembered the way he returned the kiss. Unconsciously, he had to admit he'd wanted that; he'd wanted to be held by Ryutaro, and kissed by him and-
"No, stop it!" Chinen's emotions were starting to get mixed up with one another. Was he happy? Was he sad? He looked down at his hands and suddenly remembered Yamada's bag from earlier.
Yamada...he'd almost forgotten about him. Strangely, he couldn't really summon any feeling for the older boy at the moment. Even though he had a boyfriend...Chinen did feel a slight twist in his heart when he remembered seeing the older boy kiss his friend.
Unfortunately, as soon as he thought of that, Ryutaro came back into his head, and frustration welled up within him. "Darn you, Ryutaro..." Chinen muttered, covering his flushed face with his hands.
It was all his fault! Thanks to that incident from earlier, now Chinen couldn't even think straight anymore. As a result, he didn't watch where he was going either and felt himself bump into another person rather painfully (for the second time that day).
"Ah, I'm really sorry. Are you okay?" An unfamiliar voice asked him worriedly. It was soft, with the slightest hint of an accent in the words. "Sorry, I don't pay attention to my surroundings enough and always run into another person."
Not really caring at this point, Chinen barely gave the other person, who happened to be a boy, a second glance and just shrugged his shoulders. "It's fine, don't worry about it."
"Hey, are you alright?" The boy came over to him, tilting his head down to look at him. "Excuse me for intruding, but you look like you've been through some trouble."
"Eh?" More surprised than anything else, Chinen wondered if this boy could read minds or was he just that easy to read. On closer inspection, he noticed the boy was quite tall, almost around Yuuto's height. Even more curious was the fact that he had a mole under his eye, just like Yuuto, just on the opposite side.
"Ah, well, you see." The boy rubbed the back of his head as though self-conscious. "You look a lot like one of my friends when he's troubled. He gets this expression on his face like he wants to talk but doesn't know how or where to start, so keeps it all bottled up inside. I am a good listener if you don't mind sharing, though I understand if you feel I'm stepping on your privacy...?"
Chinen's mouth had dropped opened slightly as the other boy spoke and now he shook his head, trying to clear it. "Okay, but only if I'm not bothering you or anything." When the other boy smiled at him kindly and shook his head, Chinen felt encouraged to continue. "First, i-it's not me that's troubled, okay? It's a friend of mine." He hoped the other boy wasn't perspective enough to notice his face turning a light pink color.
"Oh?" The boy sounded curious, but not suspicious or questioning. He nodded his head to get Chinen to go on.
"My friend...his name is...umm...C-chii..." He figured there was no harm in using nicknames. "And Chii thought he liked this other friend...Ryo, cuz they spend a lot of time together and Ryo let Chii sit on his lap once..."
"'Thought?'" The other boy echoed, frowning slightly.
Chinen nodded. "Yeah...because there's another person, a third friend...R-ryu..." He said the name quietly, almost whispering it. "Chii always thought of Ryu as just a friend, but then Ryu started to act weirdly..."
"What do you mean 'weirdly?'"
"Um...f-for example, and I heard this from Chii okay? Once, Ryu just grabbed Chii's wrist and didn't let go for a really, really long time..."
"...and?"
"A-and Chii can't explain this, but he thought it felt really nice, you know? Afterward, he kept thinking about Ryu holding his hand instead..." Chinen trailed off, unconsciously rubbing his own wrist. "Then somehow, he ended up walking home with Ryu, just talking about random things, but what Chii remembers the most is that...when they got to Ryu's house, he didn't want Ryu to leave him just yet, so he grabbed Ryu's shirt and then...Ryu called him 'c-cute.' So after that, Chii gets a really weird dream...and it's about Ryu saying he likes him and almost k-kissing him."
"Uh-huh...what did you think of the dream?"
"I just told you! It was...weird." The other boy seemed to be waiting for a better explanation but just thinking about it made his face feel hotter. "I-in a way...I guess, I wanted Ryutaro to kiss me...I mean, I dunno why, that was all I could think about, even after I woke up, so the next day at school I tried to avoid him by talking to Yamada-kun but then for some strange reason, he disappeared and so did Yuuto-kun so that basically left me alone with Ryutaro, and wouldn't stop staring at me and that made me feel even weirder."
"Is that so? Did anything else happen?"
"Then...I dunno, there was something on my face or something but Ryutaro just suddenly got really close to me and my heart started to beat really fast, so he had to choose that moment to hold my face like this." Chinen demonstrated by placing his two hands on his own face. The other boy nodded to show he understood and Chinen continued, "And that suddenly felt like the dream again, so all I could think was that he was going to...to k-kiss me..."
The other boy raised his eyebrows, as though surprised at this turn of events. "Did he?"
"No..." Chinen couldn't help sighing with disappointment. "He just brushed rice off my face, but it got so awkward, we didn't even talk for the rest of lunch. Oh! But you know? After school right? I lost my phone and Ryutaro got it back for me. I was surprised when I heard his voice...I didn't expect it..." He felt his face blushing as he remembered the event. "It was like he was talking in my ears, and it just gave me a really happy feeling that I can't even put into words."
"Really now? Well, it sounds to me you like this 'Ryutaro' person a lot."
Without realizing it, Chinen bobbed his head up and down before coming to his senses. "What? No! I don't like him! I don't like him at all!" Catching the other boy's look of disbelief, he tried to backtrack. "Well, not that I don't like him, I do like him, but it's not that 'like.' I mean...I'm supposed to like Yamada-kun...that's who I liked first, but then when I ran into Yamada-kun and his boyfriend, I didn't feel as hurt as I should have."
"Yamada has a boyfriend?" For the first time, the other boy sounded completely shocked.
"Yeah, they were...kissing just now," Chinen told him offhandedly. Blushing slightly, he added, "A-and so was...Ryutaro."
"Eh?"
"He just k-kissed me, after we saw Yamada-kun with his boyfriend. I dunno why he did that, it was totally random and out of the blue...but...it did feel...nice."
"Maybe he was just trying to comfort you in his own way?" the boy suggested. "But I have just one question."
"Yeah?"
"I thought this was supposed to be about your friends 'Chii,' 'Ryu,' and 'Ryo'?"
Chinen blinked, suddenly realizing what he'd been ranting about. "I-i-it was! I-I mean, yeah, e-everything was a-about t-them..." He trailed off lamely, knowing it was no use trying to deny it. "What do I do now?"
"I think you should find Ryutaro and tell him everything you just told me."
"E-everything?"
"Okay, maybe not everything. In fact, I think three words are good enough." Smiling, the boy patted his head and began to walk off. "Go for it, Chii. I'm sure you can do it."
Chinen stared after him, wondering when the stranger boy learned his name. Speaking of which... "I never asked for his name! Oh well, not like we'll ever see each other again." He breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he could never live down this embarrassment if anyone else found out, most especially Yuuto and...Ryutaro.
Remembering the other boy's words, Chinen gathered his courage and ran back to look for Ryutaro.
A/N: This was seriously amusing and fun to write. I love this chapter and Keito is awesome.
