Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Yamada wondered what he was doing, allowing Chinen onto his lap like this. The truth was, he hadn't expected something like this to happen, and when he felt that sudden weight on his legs...He decided on the spot it wasn't worth it to make such a big deal over.
Besides, he had made a deal with the smaller boy and he didn't want to give Ryutaro the excuse to call him cheap later. Speaking of which, he thought Yuuto and Ryutaro should do a better job at 'spying,' since from where he sat, he could easily see the tops of their heads outside the classroom door.
He looked down at the boy he held in his arms. Chinen was looking far too comfortable sitting there; he hoped the younger boy wouldn't mistaken this as an 'okay' for the future. But he also had to admit Chinen did have very cute features on him, and most especially when he-
His vibrating phone broke his reverie and Chinen shifted his weight so Yamada could dig his mobile out of his pockets. It was a text message and his eyes lit up when he saw who was sending it.
Eagerly, he opened it and read the message. It was only one line, 5 words long, yet it made him smile like crazy.
I'm by the school gates.
"Hey, Chinen, sorry." Gently, he pushed the younger boy off his lap and tucked his phone carefully back where he took it out of. "Something came up, so I have to go now. See you tomorrow." He grabbed his bag and went out the door, throwing behind his shoulders into the supposedly empty hallway, "Bye, Yuuto. Bye Ryutaro."
"Damn! He knew we were there?!" He smirked, hearing Yuuto's exclamation of shock. Obviously, anyone could've spotted them a mile away.
Yamada ran out the school as fast as his legs could carry him, running the text message over and over again in his head. As he left the campus, he looked left and right but the streets stretched empty on either side. Frowning, he pulled his phone out again to call when an arm snaked out from behind him.
"Uwah~!" He struggled briefly, thinking it was a kidnapping, until he heard a familiar voice breathing into his ears.
"Calm down, Yama-chan, it's only me." The arms slackened their hold on him and slithered down to his waist, pulling him intimately close against the body behind him.
"Of course I know it's you, Takaki-kun." Yamada couldn't help smiling as he turned his head to the face the of the brunette college student. "You're the only one who sneaks up on me like that."
"Are you complaining?" Takaki tilted his head, as though curious.
"Nope~ not one bit." Closing his eyes, Yamada felt a pair of soft lips press onto his own briefly. By now, they had reached the outside of the college dorms that Takaki resided in and Yamada entered the building with easy familiarity, even greeting the security guard with a casual ease.
Watching their interaction, Takaki commented somewhat dryly, "I think you're coming over a bit too much."
"Are you complaining?" Yamada threw back at him as he easily navigated his way through the hallways.
"Haha, not one bit~" Takaki imitated his answers from a while ago. They reached his room and Yamada moved aside so the college kid could unlock the doors. Once inside, Yamada dropped his bag on the floor and plopped onto Takaki's bed, sighing as he breathed in the scent of the older boy that always lingered in this room.
Takaki sat down next to him, and after a moment of contemplating, Yamada seated himself onto the older boy's lap. For fun, Yamada decided to tell Takaki about the day's events. "I know how you feel now."
Takaki had just started nuzzling Yamada against his neck, but at his words, he stopped, making Yamada pout subconsciously. "What?"
Grinning, Yamada continued, "Having someone sit on your lap I mean."
The older boy frowned, his eyes darkening. "Someone sat on your lap?"
"Yeah, it was cuz of a bet we made. We had a test, and the deal was that if I did worse, then I had to do whatever he told me. He did better than me by one point and apparently he wanted to sit on my lap." Yamada shrugged as though it were no big deal. Catching sight of the look on Takaki's face, Yamada smiled teasingly and added, "Of course, I prefer sitting on your lap, Yuuyan~"
Leaning up, he pecked the older boy on the side of the mouth, tasting him on his lips. "Why did you let him do that?" Takaki looked slightly appeased but still sounded unhappy.
"I just wanted to know how Yuuyan feels when I sit on his lap," Yamada explained, talking in the cute way he did around Takaki.
Shaking his head, Takaki pressed their foreheads together, making Yamada's heart race faster. "So your test didn't go well?"
Yamada nodded, trying not to look as miserable as he felt. "It was only one point really, but...I guess...I'm more...no one's ever scored higher than me before so..." Yamada could hear his voice starting to get more and more whiny.
Takaki's hold on Yamada tightened in an effort to comfort him. "You'll do better next time," Takaki reassured him. When Yamada still looked uncertain, Takaki continued, "Tell you what. Let me know when your next test is. I'll help you review. And whenever else you want, I can help you study as well." He added the last sentence with a wink, making Yamada blush as he got some not too innocent ideas.
"Could we maybe...'study' tonight?" he asked with a barely veiled eagerness.
Laughing, Takaki fell back on his bed and pulled Yamada down with him. "Why else did you think I went to pick you up at school for?"

"Damn! He knew we were there?!" Yuuto looked thoroughly disappointed that his brilliant spying plan was ruined so easily.
"Of course, Yuuto, nothing escapes the eyes of Yamada Ryosuke," Ryutaro informed him with an annoyed sigh. He glanced over at Chinen, who was standing still as a stone at the spot where Yamada had left him.
The smaller boy caught his eye and his body stiffened visibly. "Y-you two were watching?" He sounded just a bit angry.
The next thing Ryutaro knew, Yuuto was glomping Chinen happily. "It's okay, Chinen! If you liked Yama-chan, you should've said something! Me and Ryutaro are more than happy to help you!" He totally ignored the struggles the little boy was making to escape from Yuuto's hug.
"It's 'Ryutaro and I' for the goddamn last time, Yuuto," Ryutaro corrected him impatiently. "And let go, I think Chinen-kun is choking."
When Yuuto stepped away from Chinen, Ryutaro noticed his cheeks were a bright red color. "I-I never said that!" he protested against deaf ears. Yuuto was going on and on about how he would be more than happy to talk to Yamada for Chinen and so and so forth.
Finally, Ryutaro couldn't take it anymore and interrupted Yuuto in midsentence. "Hey, Yuuto, don't you need to pick Raiya-kun up from his cram school?"
"...call me if you need help on da-" Yuuto whipped around, stared at Ryutaro, looked at the classroom clock, checked his watch, pulled out his cell phone, and saw how low the sun was in the sky. "Oh no! Raiya!" Instantly, Yuuto was in full-panic older brother mode, shaking Ryutaro furiously. "Why didn't you let me know earlier?! I'm going to be late! Sorry Chinen, I'll talk to you later! I'll give you tips on what to wear on dates some other time! Bye~!" The next moment, Yuuto was gone like a whirlwind out the door.
"Thanks..." Chinen nodded his gratitude to Ryutaro for getting Yuuto out of his hair...literally.
"I didn't do that for you. He really is late picking up his little brother." Ryutaro sighed, looking out the window at the figure of Yuuto's running back. "He does mean well though. If you can't trust Yuuto, you can't trust anyone."
He noticed Chinen wasn't even really listening to him and was instead staring at the seat where Yamada had been at a while ago. Ryutaro had no doubts what was going through Chinen's head and couldn't help feeling frustrated. Even when it came to popularity, Ryutaro would still lose to Yamada.
"I guess I should go too." Chinen took his bag, but stopped as Ryutaro suddenly grabbed his wrist. Turning, Chinen gave the younger boy a curious look. "Yes, Ryutaro-kun?"
Ryutaro was tired of it. He was tired of always getting second behind Yamada, always losing to the older boy no matter how hard he tried to be better. He didn't want to trail after Yamada anymore; he wanted to stand on his own ground against Yamada and-
"Ow, Ryutaro-kun, let go." Chinen had started trying to squirm his wrist out of Ryutaro's grip that had been tightening.
Blinking, Ryutaro loosened his hold and Chinen pulled his arm back, staring at him apprehensively. "Are you okay, Ryutaro-kun?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry about that." Still giving him a wary look, Chinen quickly left the classroom. Ryutaro waited, watching his back disappear behind the corner before leaving as well.
