"Yaotome! You have a package waiting for you in the infirmary!"
"Ehhh?" JUMP blinked at manager-san in complete stupefaction.
"Oh, really? From who?" The manager shrugged and left, telling him to go look himself. Hikaru instantly scurried out of the room in the direction of the infirmary.
Everyone else was still looking at each other in a state of confusion.
"Why would a package be send to the infirmary?" Yuuto finally asked.
"More importantly, why does Hikaru seem to think it's perfectly to normal to receive a package from the infirmary?" Yamada wondered.
They all turned to Yabu, who after all, has known Hikaru the longest. The oldest member just shrugged. "He's an idiot."
"Who's an idiot?" Hikaru asked curiously as he wandered back in with a brown package in his hands.
"You are, idiot," Yabu said under his breath so no one else could hear.
"So who's the package from?" Inoo asked.
"Eh...that's the strange thing. There's no name on this!" Hikaru exclaimed.
You got a package from the infirmary and you find it strange that there's no name on it?!
"What are you waiting for? Open it up and let's see what's in it!!" Yuuto bounced up and down full of energy, using Ryutaro's shoulder to help him bounce even higher.
"Yuuto-kun, stop!! That hurts!!" Ryutaro exclaimed, looking irritated. Yuuto complied and wrapped his arms around the younger boy, making him blush.
"I wants to see I wants to see!!" Yuuto continued ranting, swaying from side-to-side excitedly. "Hurry up and open it Hikaru!!"
Hikaru set it down on the table and ripped the tape apart. The package opened, and out tumbled...a piece of paper.
"Ehhh?? That's it?" Yuuto sounded extremely disappointed.
"Yuuto-kun, seriously, if you keep using that loud voice, I am going to go deaf soon," Ryutaro complained.
"Hikari-chan, what does the paper say?" Chinen asked, setting his elbows on the table.
"It's a poem," Inoo informed him.
How do you find a light
when you don't even know you're looking for it?
Sure, it shines bright
In darkness, it gives off a soft, warm glow
But at times it feels cold
At times it feels uncaring
Because sometimes, its glow won't ever reach
the darkest, most hidden corner
"The last line is rather depressing," he commented.
"Ne, what does this mean?" Hikaru asked, looking at the paper up-side down for some strange reason. "Why would someone send me a poem like this?"
Everyone shrugged.
"Maybe it's from a fan? Someone who likes Hikaru?" Keito suggested.
"Eh? What makes you say that?" Daiki asked.
"The poem is about 'finding a light', and 'Hikaru' does mean 'light,' Keito explained.
"Muri muri, it's not that hard to find Hikaru. He makes too much noise," Takaki dismissed the hypothesis.
"Oi!" Hikaru punched Takaki on the arm, who promptly punched him back, and two of them began a furious punching contest. Within 5 minutes, the poem and the strange package had been forgotten as everyone else took a side and began betting who would win.

Hikaru got home and went up to his room, throwing his bag to the side and collapsing on his bed, tired from the day's work. Dance rehearsal had been, in one word, complete hell, that day. Oh wait, that was two words. Apparently Hikaru didn't know how to count either. He yawned and closed his eyes, falling asleep within minutes. The next thing he knew, he was being woken up with a knock at his door.
"Eh? Who is it?" he mumbled, rubbing his still sleeping eyes.
"Open the door already, slowpoke!" Daiki's pissed off voice came from the other side.
"Dai-chan?" Hikaru opened his door, surprised the youngest BEST member was paying him a visit. "What are you doing here?"
The response was a whack on his head. "Have you forgotten? We have a major English test tomorrow!" Daiki stormed in with his school bags and studying material.
Hikaru blinked for a minute while waiting for his brain to wake up and get connected with reality. "OH CRAP! WE HAVE A TEST TOMORROW DON'T WE?!"
"That's what I just said," Daiki muttered. "Now I know how Yabu-kun feels," he added quietly.
"Dai-chan, help me!" Hikaru grabbed Daiki's arm and began swinging it back and forth with more force than necessary. "I don't know anything! What's the difference between an adjective and adverb?!"
"Calm down!" Daiki tried to free his arm before Hikaru twisted it off its socket. "I gave Inoo-chan and Keito a call, so they could come over to help us."
"Phew," Hikaru breathed out a sigh of relief. "If Keito's coming, then everything should be okay. But why is Inoo-chan coming? He's as useless as the rest of us when it comes to English!"
"Inoo-chan's smart! He...might be helpful..." Daiki mumbled, looking uncomfortable.
The door bell rang before Hikaru had a chance to question Daiki further. A few minutes later, the four JUMP members had set up a studying area in Hikaru's living room. Coffee was being made, and they were all prepared for an all-nighter.
Keito made an excellent tutor. He was patient and quiet, always willing to explain the same concept over and over until the other person understood what he was saying. Surprisingly, Inoo wasn't as useless as Hikaru claimed he was. Then again, no one really trusted Hikaru's judgment, so it wasn't that unexpected. The problem with Inoo was he wasn't as patient as Keito, so after trying to explain to the younger boy what adverbs were for 30 minutes, he asked to switch places and tutor Daiki instead.
"Ne, Hikaru-kun...." Keito began, sounding unsure.
"Hmm?" Hikaru didn't look up as he was being distracted by a strangely worded sentence he was killing brain cells to decipher.
"Do you still have that poem from earlier?" Keito asked, staring at the pencil lead.
"Uh-huh..." Hikaru reached into his pockets and placed it on the table. The paper was slightly crumbled from being in his pocket all day. "Why?"
"I thought you would've thrown it away already," Keito commented.
"Why would I have done that?" Hikaru questioned him curiously. "Whoever wrote this seems to understand me behind my goofy self. I know it sounds strange, but I just have this feeling...this person...is someone close to me..." He glanced over to see Keito very concentrated on the lead that wasn't moving on his paper.
The Engrish boy felt the intensity of the older boy's glare and raised his head, their eyes meeting for a brief moment.
"Perhaps..." he responded quietly.
Hikaru suddenly leaned closer to the Engrish boy. "Do you know something about it?" he questioned.
At that, Keito tensed, and his grip on the pencil tightened. "Everyone sees you...they notice you...because of who you are. You're Hikaru. People know you, and you know people. While I'm sort of...just...there...in the background...I'm not sure anyone can see me...least of all..." His eyes flickered over to Hikaru, and darted away just as quickly. "Least of all...you." The last word came out as a soft whisper.
"Keito, there has always been someone 'seeing' you all this time, someone who is your 'light'. You just haven't noticed. The glow doesn't come from outside but within, reaching out towards you." Hikaru pointed to the area where Keito's heart was supposed to be.
"Who?" Keito seemed confused.
Hikaru smiled and answered quietly, "From the person you say that doesn't 'see' you."
Keito shook his head, obviously unable to believe Hikaru's words. "That's not possible..."
"Am I really that cold?" Hikaru continued his questions. He scooted over stealthily and wrapped his arms around the younger boy's shoulders. "Do I seem so uncaring...to you?"
Keito flinched with Hikaru's touch. He looked at Hikaru and saw that it wasn't the usual goofing-off Hikaru... but a serious Hikaru. "You know that it's me?"
Hikaru held Keito's face close to his and gave him a brief kiss. "I'm not always an idiot, you know."
A/N: Why am I so lame? OTL I wrote this eons ago, hence the crappiness. Forgive me, Hikato fans D=
