Stasis

[Chunks and pieces of observational notes from Wil's notebooks.]

“Shadow is gathered from the living beings - it is, simply, concentrated and detached life as pulled against its (ultimate) will for the purposes of the caster. It, as opposed to Fel and Light-based energies, gathered from the inside of the person. It is, therefore, the purest and most natural form of manipulating energies, as it allows for complete control. It is gauged directly from the caster’s stamina and will; it is the very measure of that caster’s handle and power.”

“The binding of living tissue via residue energies is accomplished as simply as the binding of non-living tissue to living. Like a thread and needle, the tendrils will attach to any nerve ending, as long as an electric-like impulse is sent to it, ordered by an organized thought.”

“The body and the mind are two inseparable variables that can be, for a certain period of time, stretched to the point of near-separation. A transition is possible only if at least one individual’s handle on their mental faculties is strong enough to maintain that bond, as opposed to what most people might think. It is not about removing the conscious out of a shell - it is about stretching it, like molasses, and being able to pull on those stretched strings and curl back up.”

“Building environments starts with the pull of a thought. It is wrong to start with the detail, as that will clutter the scene. The easiest and most convenient way is to control the mind just enough to let it fill the details itself, using memories, associations, or otherwise. Often, it is enough to send out a command or a feeling that ties in with the task one is trying to accomplish. This will lead the mental defenses into a false sense of security. The environment will feel like a dream, an event, or the memory itself.”

“The navigation within an active defense system is one of the most difficult tasks a manipulator can take on. No system is perfect, but there would be little use to break and weave through a mind with no wards or defenses - often, you can just pull the needed information out. The most important thing to remember is that you are not aiming to hurt and infiltrate, you are aiming to blend in and appear as inconspicuous as possible. Become a part of the environment. However, never, ever loose control or awareness.”

"Removal of memories is easy. It is a natural process that the mind undergoes, and it is essential for progression and formation of new memories and associations. It has been proposed numerous times that the humanoid personality and behavior is little more than a collection of memories, acting upon memories, within memories."

"Implanting a memory, a thought, or an underlying idea to have the subject follow is the crown of all mental manipulation. This idea will remain at the core of their being, and will dictate many actions that are to follow - up and until the task is accomplished. It is recommended that the implant does not require an extremely long stretch of time to complete the order. Neurotic breakdown, dependency, and lack of sense of self-preservation are only one of the few factors involved."

"A copy is finished by extending the network and sending out a series of mental and energetic impulses to the subject, much like a paper-transfer. The network has the ability to store information, as it is connected directly to the manipulator's mental faculties. As the subject's body constantly changes and grows, a copy can never be complete and perfect, it is just a replicant of the subject suspended in that particular stasis."

I am so sorry, love. I am so, so, so sorry.
