Hans knew he had made a mess of things, but it was not until he had time to reflect upon it that he realized just how horrifically he had made a mess of things. The opportunity that extremely few mortals would have had, the opportunity that some likely would have killed for, and he had done much more than squander it.
Worse, was the way in which his actions had reflected upon Ali, he had realized, far too late to make any kind of difference. What did it say about her choice of him as husband in light of his behavior? Morpheus himself had said as much.
Apologies often became empty words or were not as well received as he would have liked them to be. But they would need to be made. And perhaps, failing that, perhaps it was time to get away for a little while. If he could not resolve things, perhaps time apart would be needed. He does not know. He hopes it does not. They have had their difficulties of late, but he loves Ali beyond his ability to express.
He must make this right.
