What to do on a hot evening? Go to a movie! That was the plan, which was thwarted by the discovery that the Camry's engine won't turn over. Instead, an odd sound is coming from the engine, sort of a flapping, or perhaps a sparking, kind of noise. The electrical system works fine, so I don't think it's actually in need of a jump, but we'll see what the AAA guy says when he gets here and takes a look. This is probably the reason that the check-engine light came on a few days ago, but I hadn't had time to get it checked out. At the moment I am simply grateful that whatever is wrong didn't manifest itself fully on the open road.
But hey, I have another car, my trusty Roz, which has been parked at the back of the driveway since we got the Camry (which I think we have named the Squeemobile). Roz's engine still turns over. However, the back left tire is quite flat. *sigh* Fortunately, that is easily fixed, though Roz could really use two new(-ish) rear tires at the very least.
Ah, well. ArtBeat was nice this afternoon despite the prodigious heat. We saw friends (*waves to
gilana,
lyonesse,
cthulhia,
gdaniels, and
msarty*), listened to music, perused art,
got hennaed, cooled down with fruit smoothies and ice cream, saw
several funky bikes, and sweated a lot.
Now, if the AAA guy gets here soon enough, we could still see a movie at the Kendall afterward. Mmm, air conditioning and movie popcorn.
