dinner, garb, random stuff

We went to dinner in Chinatown tonight to see charliegrrrl and actualhuman, who are in town until Thursday (missing Arisia, alas!). Dinner was yummy, but now my clothing smells like squid and that weirds me out a little. :-}

Once home, I tried on a bunch of garb. My flocked black velvet gown with purple satin underskirt is definitely too large and will take some effort to alter. The black and purple gown with the long, trailing bell sleeves also is too large to flatter my figure. I have an idea of how to alter that as well, but any alterations will have to wait a while. In the meantime, they may fit tall women (at least 5'8") in the 22-24 range, so if anyone on my flist who fits that is going to be at Arisia, let me know and I can lend them to you if you're in need of garb. There's also a lace top in 22-24 which can be worn off the shoulder that would look great under a corset or with a solid bra underneath it, as well as a black/gold lace bodice with plunging neckline in 42DDD.

Items that are still wearable, if perhaps a bit loose, are the green/gold shimmery spiderweb skirt and matching cloak, green velvet crop top, and black velvet ribbon-laced bodice. Just right are the bodice from Lane Bryant in an 18-20 (I could get into the 14-16, but the cups were way too small for my, um, endowment) and the shimmery blue-green/purple skirt with pointed hemline. My tall boots also now fit my calves perfectly for the first time ever. Slightly snug but possibly wearable are the long, black velvet straight skirt with one slit up the thigh (kinda makes me wish I had a girdle or some kind of shapewear, which is an odd feeling) and black satin jeans. I also have purple PVC pants, which I probably won't wear this weekend, but I could lend them if someone is dying to wear them.

Black leggings and tights should round things out, and I should find all my nifty accessories, such as scarves and jewelry, and some of my makeup for fun. I don't like wearing makeup every day, because it makes my skin spazz out and I mostly can't be bothered, but I love wearing it every once in a while for fun and because it completes a certain look. Also, I should get my hair trimmed, if I can work it into my schedule.

I asked for and received half of Friday off, so that should make load-in easier.

Damn, I'm supposed to be at work at 9 a.m. to talk with a couple of coworkers about a section of our contract as part of the pre-negotiation groundwork. Oy. Normally I would never agree to a meeting so early, because I'm so not functional then, but it couldn't be helped this time around.
