In case you didn't know or remember, today is the special election to fill the 5th Congressional District seat left vacant by Ed Markey. At 10:15 a.m. I was just the 26th person in my ward/precinct to cast a ballot. Get out there and vote like it matters, because it does.
Democratic: Katherine Clark
Republican: Frank Addivinola
Justice Peace Security Party: James Hall
Independent: James Aulenti
Here's an article detailing some of the differences between the D and R candidates:
http://www.sanluisobispo.com/2013/12/09/2827044/mass-special-congressional-race.html If you are a Democrat, or at least if you are not sympathetic to the aims of the Republican Party: Considering that Ed Markey held that seat from 1976 to 2013, and considering extreme Republican intransigence, I would say that is absolutely worth making sure that you vote so that we don't end up with a Republican holding that seat for (potentially) decades. Get you hence to the polls! Yes, it's snowing and cold. Do it anyway.
