the most remarkable bit of driving fail I've personally witnessed in some time

While walking along Elm St. in Davis Square this evening, Trowa, thespian, and I witnessed a bit of driving fail that left me nearly speechless with wonder.

A woman driving down Elm St. (a one-way street, for those unfamiliar with it) quite suddenly initiated a 3-point turn, partly blocking the bus stop in front of the Dunkin' Donuts on the corner of Chester St. just as a bus was about to pull up to that very stop. She actually looked rather affronted when the bus driver honked at her. Then she completed her turnaround and realized that all the other traffic was coming right at her. She pulled up to the side of the street, stopping right by us, and I yelled, "This is a one-way street!" At this point she had the good grace to look mortified by her error, but it didn't stop her from proceeding to make a left turn across traffic onto Chester. All the other cars had stopped by this time, their drivers realizing that it would just be better to let her go so that she would cease posing a danger to everyone else around her.

Oh, and as she drove off down Chester, I happened to note her license plate: New Hampshire. Whether she was a very confused out-of-towner or a transplanted Masshole back in her element, I leave to you to judge. Either way, it was pretty spectacular.

driving, wtf, davis square
