I wrote these last week and thought I would share them:
Sonnet CLVIII
For months I've lied alone in restless night
Snuggled in memory of what was near
To see your image gone, replaced with light
Your breath now wind that whispers in my ear
And sings a song in dreams of sad goodbyes
Of sadly longing words that make me squirm
And long to gaze into your deep blue eyes.
Such thrashing in my mind does reaffirm
So well the words that echo in my head.
This is my way in writ that I confirm
How your absence has weighed on me like lead.
But hasty time will soon make me free of
The empty space that keeps me from my love!
Sonnet CLIX
How like a Rose your needled name does thrive
Roses at night do bloom in shades of grey
When beauty's face cannot with words survive
The quiet talk of what your Rose does say.
All red is Rose against a black backdrop
When blushing flowers do in bloom give life
And with that look it outshines the whole crop
Who gaze in wonder feeling lost of strife.
A Rose so bright that it steals all the light
And in the dark it thrives with flames afire
Washing the other flowers out at night
This Rose is the subject of their admire.
A Rose so sweet that when at night I smell
I thank the world and know that all is well!
