This past week at school seemed to go by so slowly. Kurt was walking to his locker, knowing that he usually passes Dave about now. Yep, there he was, walking and talking to someone else. Kurt slowed down in front of his locker and casually looked up. Dave met his eyes and smiled ever-so-slightly, nodding his head ever-so-slightly. It was Thursday and even though they texted every day and speak on the phone every night….Kurt was dying to see his boyfriend again.
Dave felt the same way. He walked past Kurt in the hall and his stomach jumped, his mouth watered and he felt instantly hungry to kiss Kurt again. He knew he couldn’t wait until Saturday. Oh, Saturday was gonna rock! They were going out of town, away from anyone they knew, anyone who might find out their secret. Honestly, it was Dave’s secret. And Kurt was being so incredibly patient, waiting for him to accept himself and come out. Maybe this weekend will get him there, maybe, he thought to himself.
Night time. It was late. Dave had just said goodbye over the phone. Kurt looked around his room and sighed. He missed him so much, but he’ll have to wait. He plugged in his phone, turned off his light and snuggled into bed, imagining the pillows he wrapped himself around were actually Dave.
Somewhere in the dark, he heard his phone vibrate. He woke up, rolled over and looked at the clock. 1:22am. Who could be calling him at this hour?
Dave, of course. Kurt looked at the screen and answered in a rushed whisper, “Why are you awake, why are you waking me up?”
“I’m coming over. Now. I can’t sleep, I need to see you.” Dave was urgent in his tone. Kurt was surprised but not about to say no. Dave had snuck in once weeks ago. Thankfully neither Burt nor Carole were light sleepers and Finn’s room was far enough away that he would never hear. Kurt loved having the basement to himself. Letting Dave in through the garage door, through the kitchen and down the steps was easy enough. Just as long as they stayed quiet once he got there.
“Ok, I’ll meet you in the garage. How soon?” Kurt was wide awake now. Truth be told, he was just as hungry as Dave.
“Two minutes, I’m driving, be there soon.” He hung up. Kurt’s head was swimming, the excitement and urgency in Dave’s voice really turned him on. Who doesn’t love being irresistible?
Dave kicked off his shoes outside the house and followed Kurt through the kitchen. They barely made it to the last step and into Kurt’s room when Dave grabbed Kurt, swallowing him in his massive arms and locking onto him with a passionate, urgent kiss.
Kurt was wearing his favorite Ralph Lauren silk sleeping pants and nothing else. Dave began fumbling with the drawstring while walking Kurt backwards toward the bed.
“I need you.” Dave breathed huskily into Kurt’s neck, “I want to taste you.” He pushed Kurt back onto his bed, slipped off his own jacket and climbed onto the bed himself.
Kurt was speechless and in a state of shock. He’s never seen Dave act so animalistic, so hungry and determined. The kisses Dave trailed across his chest and stomach were enough to make him whimper softly but when Dave’s lips locked around his erection, Kurt had to grab a pillow to muffle the scream that escaped. The impulsive need in Dave’s performance was exciting but a little unsettling too. They were in a house of sleeping family members. Someone had to keep their cool.
But dear god, how could these soaring heights of ecstasy be reigned in? Kurt held the pillow tightly over his face while Dave brought him closer and closer to climax. Muffling his cries of pleasure seemed wrong and when he finally arrived he unknowingly tossed the pillow aside only to have it knock the alarm clock and lamp off his bedside table.
“Shit!” Kurt yelped, not sure how loud the crash actually was because of the obvious blood loss to his head.
“Its ok, I don’t think anyone heard.” Dave whispered as he picked up the lamp and placed it back on the table. “Shit, there’s broken glass on the floor.”
They both froze in silence as they heard footsteps walking though the house. This was not good.
Kurt scrambled for his pants as Dave grabbed his jacket and froze, not sure if he should attempt to escape through the basement window, as difficult as that was, or hide somewhere. He bolted for the closet.
“Kurt?” his dad called down the steps. “Kurt? Are you ok? I thought I heard something.”
“Yeah dad. Um, sorry, I’m ok.” Kurt mouthed to Dave to stay there. He dashed up the steps and met his dad in the kitchen.
“I guess I was sleeping, I knocked over my lamp. I need the broom to sweep up the broken light bulb.” Kurt was desperate for his dad to just turn and walk away. Since when did he wake up for anything?
“Uh huh. Ok, well, be careful with the glass.” Burt turned to go and then stopped.
Oh no, oh no, oh no, Kurt thought to himself, please just go back to bed dad.
“Son,” Burt said, his no-nonsense look cutting Kurt to his core. “Son, is there someone in your room right now?”
That was it. Kurt could never straight-up lie to his dad. He gulped hard and closed his eyes. “I’m sorry, Dad, please don’t be mad, I’m sorry….I’m so sorry….” He trailed off weakly, not sure what else there was to say.
“Who?” Burt asked. Kurt opened his eyes suddenly, realizing there was no anger in his father’s voice.
“Um, Dave Karofsky.” Kurt stammered. “He’s in the closet, literally, he’s in my closet. Please don’t come downstairs. He’s not ready for that. He’s not being disrespectful, he’s just not ready to come out yet.” Kurt pleaded with his father. Burt put his hand on his son’s shoulder.
“I get it. Ok. I thought there might be something going on with you two. Ever since the fight and the suspension. But son, since when aren’t you able to talk to me?” Burt was obviously hurt, he thought Kurt knew there wasn’t anything they couldn’t talk about.
“It wasn’t me, Dad. I wanted to, really, I wanted to tell you. But he’s scared. If I tell you, then you might tell Carole,” Kurt looked in his father’s eyes for understanding, “Carole might tell Finn and Dave just isn’t ready for all that yet. I had to respect his feelings. I’m sorry I kept this from you.”
“Ok, I get that coming out is kind of a big step. But listen, this stops here and now.” Burt was firm in his tone, “no more sneaking in and out of my house. If he wants to date my son, then he’ll do it right, I expect to meet him properly and then we’ll go from there.” Burt’s voice softened. “I will promise to you that Carole won’t know and Finn won’t know until he’s ready to tell them and the whole world himself.” Burt smiled slightly and ruffled Kurt’s already messed up hair. “The next time he comes into this house, he introduces himself properly, got it?”
“Ok, dad, thank you,” Kurt was amazed his father could be so understanding, considering the new territory their father/son relationship just crossed into. “Love you, sorry for waking you, goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Kurt. Time for bed.” Burt walked off into the dark house and Kurt slipped quietly down the stairs.
He opened his closet door only to find it empty. Damn, Dave had left after all. He walked back up the stairs and to the garage. Dave’s shoes were gone from the steps outside. Kurt sadly grabbed the broom and dustpan and walked back to his room. Not saying goodbye properly upset him. “Stupid pillow!” Kurt muttered to himself as he placed it back on his bed. He cleaned up the broken glass, crawled into bed and fell asleep.
