Hump Day Randomness

- Finding a church to get married in is NOT an easy task. Each one has it's own rules and regulations so the only way to find out if they will marry us is to call each church one by one. Major. Pain. So I just Google mapped the churches within a few miles of the reception site and have started calling. Eric is baptized and confirmed Catholic and is somewhat religious. He doesn't attend church regularly or anything but is a believer. Me on the other hand, I was baptized Catholic but was never confirmed. I'm not religious whatsoever but have respect for religion and people who are religious. We can technically get married in a Catholic church but they ask a lot of you and I feel like I would be lying to a higher being and my family if I was married in one. Therefore, I'm trying to find a church that will perform a non-denominational ceremony with just 1 or 2 readings and no communion. I'm waiting to hear back from 2 that may do it. And to throw a kink in everything, Eric's cousin is a priest and we would like him to marry us. However, the Catholic church probably won't allow him to marry us anywhere other then a Catholic church. Ugh, I hate the politics of religion.

-I went to David's Bridal to try on wedding dresses to get an idea of what cuts and styles look best on me. That too was not an easy task. I have to try on dresses 6 SIZES TOO BIG in order to fit my boobs. So they all look funny on me. And it doesn't help that during my illness I gained about 10-15 lbs, some of which stuck to funny places. I'm not worried about the weight at all really. I know I'll lose it in a flash once I'm more active. In fact, it's already starting to come off. Now back to the point....my boobs are ridiculous. But I did learn that if I wear a corset dress I don't really have to go that much bigger....and they look good on me. So do A-line dresses and some ball gowns. So now I'm looking for a very dramatic corset style dress with a cathedral train. Oh and did I mention dramatic? I also want the dress to be white and red. Sounds impossible but I've found quite a few online by Maggie Sorreto, Mori Lee and Alfred Angelo. I'll probably start making appointments at bridal shops once a few more pounds come off.

-I blocked my hotel rooms already. It was the easiest thing ever. I did this early because we will have a TON of out of town guests. I got a great rate that includes breakfast and there is no minimum night stay. And I didn't have to put down a deposit and I'm not responsible for the cost of the rooms if they don't fill up. They will also provide shuttle bus transportation to and from the reception for a great price! The block can't officially be used until this October but at least I have it set. And besides, I saved money by doing it so early.

I hope all of you out in LJ land are doing as fantastic as I am!!
