Interlude: Complications, Secrecies, and Jongin
Kyungsoo is a good actor and observer.
He’s good at acting that he knows nothing to prevent things from getting worse and to just enjoy the show that’s happening in front of him.
He knows that Minseok likes Chanyeol, but Chanyeol has a thing for Baekhyun. Sometimes, Chanyeol fantasizes about Luhan-with the way Chanyeol looks at Luhan-but that’s his limit because Sehun is his best friend. Bro code. Kyungsoo also knows that Sehun like him before, but Sehun likes Luhan more.
Kyungsoo also knows that Baekhyun and Luhan talk shit behind his back. He doesn’t know what they talk about, but he’s sure that he’s always the topic. The others say that they are the people in the group who are inseparable, but Kyungsoo thinks otherwise. Sometimes, he thinks that maybe, transferring universities wasn’t a good idea. That certain thought gets tucked behind his mind whenever he looks at Jongin. Jongin.
The only thing that he doesn’t know is if Jongin likes him or not. It’s frustrating; to know almost everything when all you want is to know is one thing. Sometimes, he catches Jongin looking at him, but he doesn’t know if Jongin really looked at him or he’s just being delusional.
Sometimes, Kyungsoo wishes that he’s not overly observant. To him, some things are better not to be known. It’s to prevent him from heartbreak. He knows that that is impossible so he acts and pretends to be ignorant, but in some cases, him pretending makes him appear to be an insensitive person.
It’s not that he wasn’t sad that his friends are leaving. It’s just that he was trying to be positive. What he said to Baekhyun was true. Chanyeol, Zitao, and Jongdae may not be their blockmates anymore, but they’ll always be friends.

They were too comfortable with each other. It’s like they already knew each other for a long time.
It was in the middle of the first semester that Kyungsoo found out that Baekhyun and Jongin knew each other way back when they were still in high school. Apparently, Baekhyun’s older brother and Jongin’s older sister are close friends.
Kyungsoo tried his best not to feel jealous like some petty high school girl, but he can’t help it. No matter how hard he tried to dictate his feelings, he just can’t. He likes Jongin so much. Luhan told him that it’s normal to feel that way because he used to feel it towards Minseok. Sehun and Minseok used to be very close until Minseok started to like Chanyeol.
A few days later, Kyungsoo’s jealous fit over Baekhyun faded because he realized that he should trust his friend.

Kyungsoo would always say that to himself while looking at the ceiling before going to sleep. Everything is starting to take its toll on him.

Jongin is Kyungsoo’s current major dilemma. Kyungsoo can’t decipher him. Sometimes, Jongin is nice to him. Sometimes, he’s not. One day, Jongin makes his insides giddy. The next day, Jongin makes him seethe in anger. There are times when Kyungsoo hears Jongin talk about girls with Chanyeol, Yifan, Sehun, and Jongdae that make him scowl in annoyance. Bisexuals, he would always mutter before walking away.
Kyungsoo decided that after their summer term, he’ll take a break. A break away from his college friends. Kyungsoo knows that his friends will be very upset if they find out what’s running through his mind, but again, it’s better not to know everything.
Kyungsoo was still debating with himself if he should confess to Jongin or not-yet-before taking the break he believes he deserved.
