Are the fairy and Ueda going to make up?
How can one steal eyes?
Why is the fairy so well-versed in the matter?
Chapter 8 might answer some of those questions.
Chapter 8
“Ueda? You don’t look too good…” Koki seems worried.
“That’s true” Kame adds ‘you’ve been totally out of it since we started the practise. What’s the matter?”
What’s the matter? Actually he doesn’t really know. The fairy didn’t reappear and he didn’t call her either. Many questions are on his mind and he doesn’t know what to think. To be fair, a part of him misses the sparkling fairy from before. But at the same time the other side of her personality - though quite scary - doesn’t bother him too much.
“Tat-chan?” Kame insists.
“Gomen, I think I’ll go back home for today.”
The others keep silent.

“Chiaki-chan”
He fears she wouldn’t reappear.
“Tat-chan?”
Now she’s in front of him and he doesn’t hold back. He takes her in his arms and kisses her.
“Your past and all the rest I just don’t care” he says, “just stay with me.”

“Ohayo Tat-chan. Did you sleep well?” she asks as he enters the kitchen. She’s made breakfast for him. He’s quite surprised to see her looking so happy, especially after all what happened the day before.
“You seem to be in a good mood” he comments.
“That’s not surprising after what we did yesterday. It was fantastic!”
He turns slightly res. Well, of course they mad love and it was just as fab’ as their first time(s!!) but still.
“Tell me” he starts trying his best to stay calm, “can I ask you a few questions concerning… (and he feels a fool)… the eyes thieves?”
“Fire away. What would you like to know?” she answers with a smile.
“Well, for instance, what happens when… I mean, how can you steal eyes?!”
She starts laughing.
“There are two ways I’d say: either you take them by force or you manage to get the person to give them to you.”
“But I still don’t understand. Does it hurt?” he worries, “Do you die?”
She considers the matter for a moment, looking all more serious now.
“You don’t die, nevertheless - and that’s something important - you lose much more than just the sight when someone steal your eyes because your power doesn’t come from the eyes only. That’s why you also lose a part of your soul.”
“Could we… Is there a way to prevent them from finding me?”
“I’m not quite sure there is. Though it’s good to know they need you alive to take your eyes so at least they don’t kill you before they get them.”
He doesn’t feel reassured - at all!
“Wait you said I could also give them, right? Isn’t it less painful if…”
“Stop!” she cuts off, “I stop you right now. It is not less painful and it’s like the worst possible scenario. Because to make you accept to give them, people would torture you.”
“So why...?”
“I explain: it’s easier to just steal them, I mean to take them by force but it’s not too stable. If you torture the person until they give their eyes to you, you are sure to get the part of the soul to which the power is attached. But now listen carefully: YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY NOT GIVE YOUR EYES. Understood?”
She’s looking real scary so he quickly nods and agrees.
“I’m still a little lost. Have you…”
He can’t help asking her something else - because he’d like to know.
“Have you ever stolen eyes?”
She looks at him, quite surprised.
‘I prefer not to answer your question” she simply says. “In any case, I know enough to protect. So promise me you’ll fight and won’t give up, ne?”
He nods again.
