I don't make FSTs.

I just did.

OOOOOH GAAAAAAAAWD.

ABOUT
James "Jim" Tiberius Kirk, son of deceased war hero George Samuel Kirk Senior, captain of the USS Enterprise, and womanizing asshole extraordinaire; or at least in this life he is. His destiny changed by the alterings of the past by some certainly malevolent and pissed off Romulan miners, Jim Kirk didn't lead the most inspiring childhood life that he was supposed to have. His father died saving his mother and his own life (as she darn well gave birth to him, too), his early years were scarred with some sort of parental negligence or abuse, he frequented bars for liquor and picked up women faster than Warp 9, and he still, despite all of that, saved an entire planet of over 6 billion people from certain destruction with his brash, adrenaline impulsive attitude that his would-be friend half-vulcan/half-human Commander Spock would say is nothing short of extremely "illogical".
He's snarky, he's passionate, he's a genius, he's changed, he's Captain Kirk rebooted; born to fly. And we love him for it.
----
This FST is split into two sections: Pre-Captain (ie: Kirk's childhood and later years) and Post-Captain (of the Enterprise), and there's a couple of bonus songs that I just couldn't pass up to put it, mainly for humorous purposes.
WARNING: Very, very big FST. Juuust telling you that now.

01 - White Shadows [Coldplay]
When I was a young boy I tried to listen
And I wanna feel like that,
Little white shadows blink and miss them
Part of a system, I am.
When I was a young boy I tried to listen,
Don't you wanna feel like that?
You're part of the human race
All of the stars in the outer space,
Part of a system, a plan.
--
Attributed to Kirk as a child, where I like to view the 'white shadows' as glimpses of starships in the sky. Because little Kirk stargazing and questioning his existence is something perfect to start on.

02 - Kane [Cocotje]
And if I could, I would stand.
If they're not, not in the way.
I'll stare in the distance
Would I grow up to be just like you?
I grow up to be just like you.
--
Another of his childhood, Jim's view on his father's heroics, and whether he can measure up to something as great.

03 - Speed of Sound [Coldplay]
Look up, I look up at night,
Planets are moving at the speed of light.
Climb up, up in the trees,
every chance that you get,
is a chance you seize.
How long am I gonna stand,
with my head stuck under the sand?
I'll start before I can stop,
before I see things the right way up.
--
Young Jim as usual, his less-than-perfect life trying to follow a path to achieve greatness. What's with me and all of this stargazing...?

04 - If Everyone Cared [Nickelback]
And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died
When nobody died.
--
Could be kid!Kirk or later years, as he wonder what a normal life where he doesn't have to deal with a botched-up family or a famous father he has to surpass. I like to think he's even relating to the Enterprise, whether she's in construction or finished.

05 - Not Listening [Papa Roach]
Cause I've lost my innocence
And I'm a stranger, A life changer
I'm a man thats not afraid of danger
I walk my own path, and blaze my own trail
Because I'm not afraid to derail
I won't get in line or be a middle man
So fuck you I'll make my own plan
And I got respect and I don't neglect
The people that I really care to protect
Am I a failure if I got nothing to lose
No, I'm not a failure, I got something to prove.
--
Aaaand we get to the car. Oh yes the car. Where it all starts, and where he really, really rebels (mainly against his stepfather). Could even be seen as his first thought of Captain Pike's offer and even after at the academy; his key independence.

06 - Highway To Hell [ACDC]
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobodys gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobodys gonna mess me round
Hey satan, payed my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land.
--
Oooooh yeeeeeah. The car, again. On the road. (both figuratively and literally) Chose this one for the main theme of the first disk because really; it's upbeat, cocky, and just entirely Jim.

07 - Kickstart My Heart [Motley Crue]
Always got the cops
Coming after me
Custom built bike doing 103
My heart, my heart, Kickstart my heart
Skydive naked from an aeroplane
Or a lady with a body from outerspace
My heart, my heart, Kickstart my heart
Say I got trouble
Trouble in my eyes
I'm just looking for Another good time
My heart, my heart, Kickstart my heart
--
A little car I love it okay?! but a lot of later years Jim. Seriously "Or a lady with a body from outerspace"? Yeah, he's a thrill adrenaline junky alright.

08 - Hit The Ground [6-GIG]
I thought I could break the sound barrier just by trying
To hit with focus and at random and never dying
A waterfall flowing upstream only human
I thought I could break the sound barrier.
I'm only stopping for heavy breathing
I'm only stopping to hit the ground
Only stopping to regain feeling
I'm only stopping to hit the ground.
--
His determination, mainly later years. Perhaps when he started at the academy (or even way before), where he's disciplined and yet still won't stop being himself as usual. Pushing himself to excel, because he's James Kirk and he can.

09 - Top of the World [All-American Rejects]
Is there anybody up there?
That can see what a man can change?
It’s better that you don’t care
Because he knows that he's in his state
I feel the paranoia
When there’s a time, put you in your place
In the eyes of those who watch'ya
Well they can wait 'til you hit your face.
--
I can see this being an almost Admiral Pike song to Kirk, taunting him to join the academy, and observing just what the hero's son has become, and how all that can be switched around.

10 - What Are You Scared Of [Mesh]
Can you face it
When you're wasted
Are you sober
Before it's over
Carbon dated
Over-rated
Carton flavoured
Little "Miss Behaviour".
Only you can press that button
Only you can press that button today.
She say's "One more? Just what you are scared of?"
He says "What for? I still love you the same."
--
Jim's fears of what joining the academy might do to him. Would it be for the better or for the worse? Measuring up to his father's legacy, and yet he knows no one will make that decision for him, and that he must do it himself. 'She' could also be his mother, and 'He' his father.

11 - Have You Got It In You [Imogen Heap]
All at once, not a whisper, nor word.
Then all at once...
Let me have it all, let me have a battle on,
Easy target,
Look can we just...just get it over with.
It's getting worse, against all the odds...
It's getting worse.
Been one of those days...
Safety first, don't push...don't push me...what's the hurry?
Cause there's One nerve remaining, waiting on one look,
One look now...have you got it?
Have you got it in you?
Have you got it in you?
--
A third person of Jim's impulsive yet also mature abilities, and even a thought Jim's asked himself: does he really have the guts to go through with what he's doing? To captain and pilot a ship and her 400 crewmembers? Of course he does. Now go emotionally compromise a half Vulcan, dude!

12 - Until Tomorow [Hybrid]
No need for words
Your heartbeats and the breeze was all I heard
Your hopes and fears
How trivial it seemed from above
I breathe you in
As the sunlight breaks the haze that touched your skin
Beneath the glow
On a different kind of Sunday morning
Until tomorrow.
--
Alas, status as Captain of the brandnew USS Enterprise reached. Where everything changes and everything slows down for just a moment. It's practically a song between Kirk and the Enterprise, and trust me, there'll be a lot of those later. But this is the first. Breathe it in, you have a planet to save.

01 - How Far We've Come [Matchbox 20]
Waking up at the start of the end of the world,
But it's feeling just like every other morning before,
Now I wonder what my life is going to mean if it's gone,
The cars are moving like a half a mile an hour
And I started staring at the passengers who're waving goodbye
Can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?
I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come.
--
Oh god I love the first line, so darn self explanatory, it's laid back and so very him. Welcome to Captaincy, Jim.

02 - I Found A Way [Alkaline Trio]
I found a way
Through the fear and through the flames
I'm diving in, don't follow me
Stay right here, I'll be back for you someday
I found a way
It'd be best if you just stayed
It's not safe, don't follow me
I found a way
I found a way
--
Courage and self-sacrifice, protecting the crew he just aquire 5 minutes ago. A little of the attack on Nero's ship in there.

03 - Reckless [Papa Roach]
I'm walking on broken glass from the wreckage of my past
I'm locked up in a cage 'cause I'm a prisoner of my ways
So cut me off
Throw me out
'Cause I'm a reckless
I'm a reckless Goddamn son of a bitch!
--
Sure, he's Captain of the goddamn Enterprise, doesn't mean he won't stop doing what he does best, right? He steps on his past and breaks through his future like the awesome guy he is. Also, when the song gets into the bit about the woman? Enterprise, as simple as that.

04 - Let's Get It Started [Black-Eyed Peas]
In this context, there's no disrespect, so, when I bust my rhyme, you break your necks.
We got five minutes for us to disconnect, from all intellect collect the rhythm effect.
Obstacles are inefficient, follow your intuition, free your inner soul and break away from tradition.
Coz when we beat out, girl it's pullin without. You wouldn't believe how we wow shit out.
Burn it till it's burned out. Turn it till it's turned out. Act up from north, west, east, south.
--
CHILL THE FRAK OUT, JIM'S GOT THIS. I wasn't sure about putting this in, because it's seriously a 'wtf where does this go?' kind of song. But it really promotes what Kirk brings to his crew with his freestyle attitude. Bend the rules a little, work 'till you drop, don't give up, and be stupid about it. Hurray!

05 - Satellite [BT]
Still smells of the sun
And the light that brings healing
Is burning my eyes
And the dark seems so nice
And I'm choking on blessings that I can receive
I hide.
She says, the satellite is coming.
I pray, wrecking ball is waining.
She says, the satellite is coming.
It's come to take us home.
--
Enterprise and Kirk/crew song, of course. The Satellite being the Enterprise, all shiny and new and ready to start a mission; a voyage of extraordinary possiblities.

06 - Control [MuteMath]
Move me up through the darkest clouds
Till I've lost in the sun every shadow of doubt
There is no better find than to find myself with you
In a fog you are all I see
I'm inviting you closer with each time I breathe
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
There is no reason I should breathe unless you're in the air
Take control
--
I was two seconds away from naming the second disk after this song. Once again about the Enterprise and space, and what both mean to Jim Kirk; the man that was born to fly.

07 - Crash [Mesh]
I know the crash is coming
Cause I smell the fuel in the morning
I hear the engines stop
But I'll find my my own way down
Don't do anything to us, today
(You're only flesh and bone, you'll really never know)
There's nothing left to take away
(You're only flesh and bone, you'll really never know)
--
The start of the attack on Nero's ship. From the cloaking behind Titan, to Kirk and Spock's assault, to the end of the battle. For them it's now or never, or Earth is destroyed and then some. Get crackin' guys!

08 - In This Together [Apoptygma Berzerk]
And in your troubled eyes I see
Someone who carried me somehow
Like footprints in the sand
You've been behind me all along
We got it wrong from the start
Now it's you and me
Let's hit it on
Don't you see it`s you and me against the world?
We're in this together.
--
Obligatory Kirk and Spock song, one of the biggest partnerships in the history of sci-fi. And sure, it started extremely rocky, but the chemistry between them during the attack on the Narada is undeniable. Once again, just like the original timeverse, they're ready to kick ass and explore the skies.

09 - Go [Andy Hunter]
[instrumental]
--
I like to dub this "The Offical Song Of The Siege On The Narada". Starting with the Enterprise emerging from the veils of Titan, to boarding the ship, to decking ten Romulans, to finding Spock Prime's vessel, to saving Captain Pike and then beaming home. A companion piece to 'Crash'. Upbeat, sci-fi inspired, adrenaline-pumped; can't ask for more.

10 - Seven Circles [The Tea Party]
Because the world keeps turning
And I keep on searching
For seven circles twisting
Around these moments of our lives
Dancing on the edge of night
Everything we've lost is coming back again
All I See
All I See
Will always be
And I don't know why.
--
Journey of the Enterprise. What's 'lost' is the original timeverse, and yet that's coming back to them; Jim and the crew are ready to boldly go once again. (On a side note, my friend likes to think that the 'seven circles' are rings of Saturn.)

11 - Across The Sky [Emilie Autumn]
Love goes on
But Time does not return again.
Across the sky
I will come for you
If you ask me to
Demystify your uncommon dreams
Stranger things have come true.
Fear no more the midnight
Fear no more the sea
Close your eyes, regret nothing
You're safe with me
Look into the shadows
Step into the mist
Search your land but doubt never
I still exist.
--
Another Enterprise song with Kirk. Because really, I like his destiny with his ship, okay? 'Time does not return again', yet Jim can forge it himself. Regret nothing, safe in the skies, search for new lands and explore. The ship can have a voice, can't she?

12 - Atom Angel [Waltari]
He's pointing out his hand
Towards a brightness in the sky
Reflected by the light
Rising high above the night
Standing on the deck
The figure's dimly to be seen
Scared and weak and proud
His restless feet are tapping.
Hello you flaming land
Here comes an angel with a sword
You real flaming man
Atom Angel with a smile.
--
The last and final song, yet a depicting of what is just about to start. Newly Captain, scared yet excited at the same time, Jim is the angel with a sword, ready to carry out his duty and soar above his potential with snark and courage and everything we love about him.

01 - In A Bar [Jim's Big Ego]
I can't not put this in. First: JIM'S BIG EGO. COME ON. And in a bar. Ring any bells?

02 - I'm On A Ship Boat [The Lonely Island]
As if we haven't all seen this already. I can also somehow see Jim singing this. Oh god brain damage.

03 - I'm Horny [Mousse T]
Let's question James T. Kirk's sexdrive, shall we? This song shouldn't be as ridiculously as it is. Now imagine dear Jim parading down the halls of the Enterprise with this on...

04 - Asshole [Jim's Big Ego]
Again. JIM'S BIG EGO. WAT. And I wouldn't be surprised if this was a song from Kirk to Spock, because really, mind meld or not, he's still and asshole. either that or maybe Bones

05 - Star Trek Rhapsody [Opie & Anthony]
I'm still laughing my ass of at this one. And will be for ages. And putting nu!crew in just made me die laughing even more.

I'd like to thank my friend, Dragon, a whole lot for this one. She helped me put the entire FST together, so I can't thank her genius enough.

It's my first time making an FST of any kind, so please tell me if you download it and what you think of the entire arrangement!

fst, brb lol'ing forever, wtf, star trek
