Stockholm and Bones

May 23, 2010 22:28

He guys,

how was your week? Mine was fast and slow. On Tuesday my bf and me came back from Stockholm. It was his birthday present by my parents and me. A flight to Stockholm. It was a wonderful trip even though the beginning was horrible (we nearly missed our flight in Berlin). But we had four sunny and happy days. If someone wants to see photos just comment and I'll post a few. Stockholm is an expensive amazing city.

Then my doc put me on sick leave because I've had headaches and dizziness for more than a week. So couldn't work on my thesis. I still have to arrange everything with my uni but that should go smoothly if they ever pick up the phone. lol

I finally watch Bones 5x21 and 5x22 AND I even put togehter a post about the episodes. OMG Jules is posting something like a review. lol These are just some thoughts and rambling.
And there are obviously SPOILERS for Bones season finale.

5x21 The Boy with the Answer
Wow, this episode is probably going to be one of my all time favourites. It hurt watching them struggle. Angela and Hodgins. Hodgins and Brennan. Sweets and Cam. Just three scenes that blew me. The Gravedigger case has always been close to all of them and to the fans so we needed closure. We needed this episode. I just can't explain why I loved this ep. The team interaction was well paced, they were anxious, driven and desperate. Yet they were able to be truly happy for each other as Angela and Jack announced that they married.

The villain was excellently creepy. Deirdre Lovejoy's portray of a lawyer turned serial killer is brilliant. Period. Howard Eppes would have been proud of her.

Furthermore this episode summed up last season (taxi scene anybody?) and prepared us for the finale: Everything is changing. Will Bones leave? Will B+B be happily ever after? (My guess: Yes, but not for long. And hell no, not yet.)

This episode had its weaknesses (why the hell didn't the ask for an outside expert to double check their findings and support them in court) but I am really happy how the ended the Gravedigger mess. (Yes, she said it's not over but srsly I hope it is.)

5x22 The Beginning in the End
The finale begins like a regular episode which is a good thing to do. We pretend everything is back to normal. But it isn't. Brennan is eager to go to Indonesia and her reaction to Daisy's shriek was priceless. Brennan tries so hard to be all logic and focus and we saw last episode how off everything is. We continue here.
Booth's storyline starts shortly after. He is with Sweets (which is interesting because his fiancée just told us she will go to Indonesia). Booth's talk with the Army Ranger was intense (“Your country ne...” - “Don't go there!” GO BOOTH!).

Press fast forward because I am not going to recap the ep. I am utterly indecisive if I should love or hate the ep. The case itself was poorly written. The whole gnome thing wasn't funny. I understand that the case only existed because they needed an alibi for teh angst and to give some input to the live changing events to come.

The end Sweets/Daisy storyline disappointed me. Not because they broke up. The writers should have given them more space to develop their break-up. You don't just go from being happily engaged to breaking up because of a freaking year in Indonesia. But it was interesting to see how a real couple on the show tries talking through these changes and how B+B do it. Then again it was weird that Daisy already decided she'd go to Indonesia even if this means breaking up with her fiancée but Brennan and Booths struggling because they don't want to make decisions without the other one. It's not weird like really weird. It's just a interesting way to write these two couples.

Sweets and Hodgins are srsly BFF. This was the only fun storyline in the ep. So I enjoyed it immensely.

The Cam/Brennan hug already was too much for me. (Their whole interaction in this episode was lovely) I was squeeing BUT then Brennan said ILU to Jack and I was dead. *lol*
Angela's goodbye was perfect. She wants Brennan to be happy.
B+B's goodbye was interesting. It felt strangely appropriate that they hug regularly but only held hands in this moment. I dunno. I think it gave this scene a special meaning. And I thought for a moment they were going to kiss.
The only two staying are Cam and Sweets? Did I get that right? Wow...
What the hell happened to Andrew and Catherine?!

To sum it up: I think it was too quick. There wasn't enough time to explore each storyline or character/relationship development. It was the same in 3x15 Pain In The Heart and 4x25 The Critic In The Cabernet. Bones is an amazing show. I love the characters and their developments dearly. But this show has some serious trouble with finales. In the last two episode or so they start to hurry. They could do so much better. I know that there are always hidden clues all over the place for past and future episode that I can't always see because I am dumb but they go from slow motion to high speed in one episodes. It just annoyed me in this episode again. *sigh*
We'll see how they continue. They did the fast forward thing on Desperate Housewives once, didn't they? I think it's an interesting thing to do. It means a fresh start. B+B were a little deadlocked after episode 100. Maybe they will see each other one year later. Maybe they don't because something more important happens. I hope we will have a Hodgela baby next season. And what about Cam and the gynaecologist?!

Season 5 was obviously the season of love. Two engagements, one wedding and episode 100. I guess they scared off the last fan who was in it for the crime. *lol I don't complain. I love the drama, the love, the ust and the angst. I just wanted to say it. haha

Have a nice week!
