I've never liked Star Trek as much as Star Wars, but I've always liked Star Trek. There seems to be something in the American mind that you HAVE to choose between two things that are similar (Ford vs. Chevy, Coke vs. Pepsi, McDonalds vs. Burger King, Subway vs. Blimpie, etc.) Why Star Trek fans hate Star Wars and vice versa has always puzzled me.

I always liked the Trek movies with the original cast (I haven't seen too much of the original series) and I loved ST: The Next Generation. I'm hoping to make this new one my annual trip to the movie theater, because this is apparently the best Star Trek movie EVER by everything I've read.

(BTW, you might enjoy Star Trek VI which I think gives The Wrath of Khan an run for its money as the best of the original Trek movies. I suppose you need to know some of the back story of the Klingons and the Federation, but I think it's a good movie...not just a good Star Trek movie. And Christopher Plummer as a Klingon is a stroke of genius.)
