Lollapalooza was, for the most part, quite a bit of fun. I spent a lot of it complaining, as it has gotten far too big and corporate, but there are always a few performances there that make me glad I went. This year, Holy Fuck, Battles, and NIN were were amazing. Radiohead, Saul Williams, and Love and Rockets were a lot of fun. Tim and I got to see a screening of "Christmas on Mars," the Flaming Lips movie, which was pretty rad and made Tim very very happy. In between, there was a wedding on Saturday (which was no fun), lots of sweating, some fairly dead spots in the festival (being that there are so many bands, the quality of what gets presented gets severely watered down at times), and chocolate-chocolate chip-cherry waffles a la mode with bacon on Sunday morning.
Favorite performance of the weekend: Nine Inch Nails. No surprise there, I suppose. Trent is starting to look his age, but he sure as hell doesn't run around that stage like a guy in his 40s. And his band right now is incredibly tight. The second favorite: Battles.
