I read
this article about advertising on Twitter that both impressed me and shocked the shit outta me..
it's interesting in that companies found a new way of reaching out to an audience with this new-ish social website. I kinda thought that Livejournal might do something similar but maybe the Livejournal format isn't as consumer friendly as the Twitter-style of format..and it's shocking in that just how much money is being giving for the product dropping tweets. For example, useless celebrities such as all three Kardashian's are getting upwards of $10,000 bucks for a single tweet!
And break this down even further, say one of the Kardashian's decides to type out a 140 character tweet about her "favorite" shampoo. That shampoo company, then, gives her 10,000 bucks for this tweet. Doing some quick math:
$10,000 / 140 characters = $71.43 per keystroke
She just made $71.43 per keystroke!
It's mindboggling just how much money companies give out to their advertising departments and to advertising/marketing companies..
