Isn't that totally lame?

Hopefully there will be a lot of his movies on TV in the next couple months so we can all sit back and appreciate teh fuck out of him.

Absolutely! He was a major part of our generation growing up. Just surprised and disappointed that the media isn't covering this more..they are treating it like a news blurb. I mean, Steven Tyler from Aerosmith is getting more press from falling off a stage..no doubt that Hughes movies will be on the TV in the near future. Maybe the full version of The Breakfast Club will be released on DVD?

I totally agree with the lack of press. that's bullshit. I care more about him dying than michael jackson. He was a bigger, more influential part of my life than MJ.

And I didn't realize there wasn't a full version of TBC on DVD? I have a copy and I didn't notice any differences???

When I say full version, I should probably say the TBC that Hughes wanted to release. He filmed a 2.5 hr version of TBC. Unfortunately, the studio thought it was too long, trimmed it down to 1.5 hours or so and destroyed the film that was left on the cutting room floor. In an interview, Hughes mentioned that he has the only copy of the 2.5 hr version of TBC. I'm certain (or at least hoping) that this longer version will eventually be released on Blu-Ray/DVD as a "Director's Cut" or something along those lines.
