There are moments when I regret hanging with my friends. I'm in the middle of one of those moments right now. Currently on vacation in NYC and it seems like my options mean shit to them. For example, it's pretty well known with all of them that I don't drink beer (beer tastes terrible to me), yet they decided to buy tickets to something called a "Pub Crawl" - it's like a guided tour to some of the bars and pubs located in NYC (ones that most likely only serve beer). And they didn't think I'd mind dropping 75 bucks on a tour that I wouldn't get anything from. I could be wrong on this and I'll eat my words if I'm wrong..but I still wish I was asked what did I want to do while at NYC...it's the self-centered-ness that bugs me. They know that I don't make nearly as much as them..
Edit: As I mentioned, I said that I'd eat my words if I was wrong with how I thought the evening would be. The pub crawl, as it turns out, wasn't all that bad. I tried to choke down the first beer over at
Old Town Bar and failed miserably..I got to a quarter of the way down the glass before giving up and giving the beer to my friends, which they gladly accepted. We went over to Pete's Tavern and while everyone else got another beer, I was given a vodka and coke..something I never had before..I've had a "jack and coke" and Rum and coke" but never a vodka and coke..it was a nice change to know that I wasn't going to have to try and endure drinking another beer..the last bar we went to was to
McSorleys, which is a very cool place to hang out, even if you don't like beer. That's all they serve too..beer and just two types: light and dark. From what my friends said, it's not good beer but the atmosphere more than makes up for it..think of an old, dirty irish pub and you have McSorleys. Wasn't sure if it was the vodka and coke that I had but I managed to down my two beers faster than any of my fellow pub-crawlers..which impressed them quite a bit. I've been to McSorleys before so I what it was like there..
afterwards, we had some fries over at
Pommes Frites (I had some poutine) and later on, went over to a place called
The Coffee Shop to nab some dinner and drinks..not sure why it's called that really as I'm not sure if they even serve coffee there. But in all, the night wasn't that bad..tonight, gonna be seeing Depeche Mode over at the Garden. Looks to be a good show!
