During the weekend, I got tired of waiting for my roommate to take me to the beach, so I borrowed the car, drove around a bit and ended up in Malibu. I never realized that Malibu is more or less a strip of road, two lanes in each direction, with the side facing the ocean completely packed with houses. Even though it was late Saturday afternoon, the traffic was really bad and it was kind of difficult to find parking. The beach I finally stopped at was apparently a surfer beach (no swimming), with a lot of great looking people. After walking down to the water, I called a friend and started pacing up and down the beach. In LA it had been somewhat hazy, but by the ocean the sky was clear and the air temperature very comfortable. It was really nice… till I got splashed by a BIG wave and got soaked up to my waist. It looked like I’d had an “accident”, so I had to cut things short.
The day after, me and my roommate continued our tradition of Sunday brunch in West Hollywood. This time we went to the Prana on Melrose Place (that’s right). The food was good, the price ok, the clientele kind of interesting, but unfortunately they didn’t have any Bloody Maries. On the whole, a great restaurant.
Yesterday, I found out that my stay in LA might get much shorter than expected. Hopefully, I’ll know for sure before Thanksgiving.
