Summary: Sungmin found himself caught in the middle of the two things that mattered to him most: his family, with his sweet mother, overprotective father and seven siblings, and his boyfriend Kyuhyun. He doesn't know what will happen, nor does anyone else.
“I know, I know. I don’t want to die young by the hand of your father.” He replied, placing his hands over mine and moving them away from his eyes.
Oh yeah. Dad. And to think, for a brief moment, I almost forgot about Dad. After I managed to fix Kyuhyun’s things and get them safely out of the way, I stood up to go get the spare futon (again). I walked down the hall to Yesung’s room where I bumped into another one of my siblings. Isn’t it amusing that I literally run into so many people in just one house?
“Hey, watch it!”
“You watch it. And where do you get off yelling at your older brother?” Boy, this felt familiar. It’s great to be home.
“Oh! Hyung! I didn’t realize it was you. I’m sorry, I thought it was Donghae again.” Kibum said looking apologetically. Kibum was one of my brothers who always seemed to be thinking. He gets irritated when someone ruins his train of thought (which Donghae often did).
“Nah, it’s alright. I’m used to it by now.” I said in a chuckle.
“You’re here for Donghae’s birthday, right?” he said, following me to Yesung’s room.
“Yeah, I just couldn’t say no to the kid. He sounded like he was going to cry if I said no.”
“He probably would have if you did.” Kibum replied as he sat down on Yesung’s bed.
I grabbed the spare futon from under the bed and shook off what seemed to be the ghost of potato chips’ past. Yesung never was a neat freak. He kept things generally clean but when it came to minor details, he didn’t bother.
“So, hyung,” Kibum said “How’ve you been? We haven’t heard from you in quite a while.”
“I’m alright, I guess. School kept me pretty busy.” School and other things, really.
“Oh. Did you make any new friends while you were away?” Here we go again. Should I just say it? Should I start off with that at the get go?
“Yeah, I did. Quite a few…” I replied. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
Kibum nodded in reply. His face looked like he was analyzing and gathering data again. He always was the smart one in our family…
“That’s good to hear, hyung. At least you didn’t come home with a lover like Heechul did…” He said with his voice trailing off.
I winced a little at the sound of Kibum’s words. It was at that moment where I felt like I had been caught red-handed. Suddenly, memories of Heechul’s epic return were playing in my mind. Dad was infuriated, Mom was worried and Heechul had tears running down her cheek as she held her anger in. The fear returned to me and I felt like I was going to pass out.
“Hyung?” Kibum looked at me. “Don’t tell me you… Oh my god. You did.”
I took a deep breath and slowly walked back to my room. Kibum stood up and followed, trying to get more out of me. I opened my door and dropped the futon on the floor. Kibum was in the doorway, ready to ask more.
“You did, didn’t you hyung? This isn’t good. What’s Dad going to say?” He said leaning against the door frame.
“Kibum, please. I’ve been worrying about that for days.”
“But what will you do? I don’t want a repeat of what happened before…”
“A repeat?”
Kyuhyun reappeared from behind Kibum. I was wondering where he went. Kibum turned around and looked at Kyuhyun not with the typical thinking face he usually has, but with a more surprised look. His eyes widened and stared at Kyuhyun for a moment and he turned to me with a raised eyebrow.
“Who’s this?” he said gesturing his thumb at Kyuhyun.
“That, little brother, is Kyuhyun. He is, according to you, what I did.” I said in the calmest tone possible.
“Hi. You must be another one of Sungmin’s siblings, right?” Kyuhyun said.
“Uh, yeah. Hi, my name’s Kibum.” Kibum replied with a soft smile. He seemed okay with Kyuhyun but then again, I could never be too sure with him. Kyuhyun smiled back and shook Kibum’s hand, making their introduction official.
A/N: Behold, Kibum! Haha. It took me forever to figure out who the next sibling will be. My chapters are short, right? It's okay, I hope. I can't seem to squeeze too much stuff into my chapters. Anywhoo. Enjoy as always, comments are love! :D
