Watching this Healthcare Summit 2010 got me thinking....
What the bloody hell is wrong with Congress?
You have two sides who have some fundamental differences. Fine, whatever. Welcome to politics. You also have many things in which no one disagrees on ANYTHING. Well, maybe five or ten, but by and large, no disagreements.
So whyyy whyyyy whyyyyy can't we put the things we agree with in separate bills and pass this shit tomorrow while we continuously work on things which we disagree with?
We could pass so many rad awesome cost saving measures right now. Easy-peasy. Apparently the House did that a few days ago, voting 400 something to not very many to prevent Insurance companies from being shielded against anti-Trust lawsuits. Fucking rad. Why can't we just keep doing that? Why does it all have to be one massive bill?
Well, let Uncle Xander tell you. Because it's so much harder to sneak shit into a bill that's only 50 to 200 pages long as opposed to nearly 2000. Porkfat is harder to find in a giant pig.
So what's the easier way? Shucking it into 2000+ pages. Sweet heart deals, buying senators, etc. But in a smaller bill? They are so much more apparent. SO HEAVEN FUCKING FORBID WE DO THAT.
Hey! US SENATE! HOUSE OF REPRESENTIN'!
THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS
