Party Directions - in Photoshop

I sat about yesterday, thinking idly about maps. Then stumbleupon gave me this lovely photoshop tutorial resource that results in a nifty little map that looks something like this:

The map above alone would be a pretty nifty idea (especially if you were doing a Silent Hill themed wedding - which you probably aren't - and needed a map, but I digress) better than most maps enclosed with wedding invites, but then you could continue to modify it with clip art, photoshop brushes, or vector assets you find online.

I am taking the basic map tutorial and modifying it with a series of antique map pieces and photoshop map brushes (particularly this one, which has LotR style topography graphics). There is a big lake in my area that I'm going to set a Sea Monster in, and I'll probably embed little bats and things in the middle of large expanses of trees... plus other landmark details for people who have never been to my wedding local before. Something with a sense of humor, but really pretty to look at (like an old treasure map).

Obviously, there is a lot you could do to make a more 'Halloweeny" map. I would suggest the subtlety of Halloween Brushes and Clip Art.

I'll come back and add my final map when it's done, if there is interest/curiousity.
