Just got in from a lovely evening of jazz by Forte, a local trio, at
Sambuca in Buckhead. T knew one of the band members, so it was nice to be in their friendly inner circle for the night.
We started with the sampler appetizer plate (garlic shrimp, crabcakes, beef purses and ceviche with veggies), then the gorgonzola salad (good cheese coverage!) and a side of perfectly tender roasted asparagus spears for my dinner. T got the spinach salad with strawberries and mashed maple bourbon sweet potatoes. For dessert we split the espresso brownie, which resembled more of a molten chocolate cake in a coffee cup rather than the traditional square, cakey goodness we were expecting. Still, there was nothing left in the cup when we were done.
I had read the reviews on CitySearch before going, and was pleasantly surprised at the food - all very yummy, and much better than the write-ups indicated (a few issues remained with service and food mix-ups, which we tried to overlook). With it being Sunday and not crowded, the wait staff wasn't concerned with the usual two-hour limit on the tables, so it was very casual and relaxed.
Perfect for weekend chill.
