Update
So it's been awhile since I have had a real update... on that isn't just a bunch of pictures, or some random tripe that no one understands but me. I don't talk to many of the people that read this, and it is something I regret. I've lost contact with many friends in the past few years, and do wish I would have done things differently.
Tomorrow I speak for a final time with the recruiter for the Army. If everything checks out, I will be attending MEPS this Thursday evening/Friday afternoon where I have every intention of signing away the next eight years of my life to the United States.
Why, you may ask? Because I need to do something to get my life in check. I need the discipline, I need the training, but most of all... I need the change. I need a kick in the ass to get me motivated, and this is the best way that I see to do so.
I've been told that with my chosen MOS, that I will attend Basic Training within 2-5 weeks, and almost immediately ship to Texas to spend over a year training at the army medical base. From there, I could go anywhere in the United States or over seas. And you know... I look forward to the adventure. To seeing places I never have nor ever will at the rate I'm going. It's going to be hard, God knows, and taxing, but this is what I want, and I have every intention of succeeding.
To the friends I have and have had, I thank you for everything you've given me. All the lessons taught and learned, and all the experiences had. I hope that the next few years bring you everything you were always looking for as a young high school student and more.
When I know more, I will post my ship date. I would truly like to see friends before I go, so please, if you see this, call me, or email me at j_whitman@charter.net to get my cell number or to set up a time to hang out. I'd love to see as many people as possible.
