I can hardly believe that I've been back in this country for just over 3 weeks, and been back at uni for an entire week already. J term is a 4th over and that's just plain sad. I'm taking possibly the best course in my MIddlebury career, Tolkien's Middle Earth. It's such a fascinating look at the genius of Tolkien, and has made me incredibly interested in linguistics. I've also realized just how much work really goes into creating a masterpiece like LotR, and how as an author myself I have so much work to do. Luckily, I had a friend staying with me this weekend, and I read her a story I'd been working on. Besides the fact that she was slightly appalled at the blatant character references to one mutual friend, she actually thought it was a decent piece. She even encouraged me to fully flesh it out and to include it in some sort of published work, whenever I get around to that. It was nice to hear that from a friend I trust so much, especially since I haven't read my work to anyone in a very long time.
Anyway, J term has been fantastic with all of it's usual shenanigans as well. Since being back I have:
-eaten a Love Me Tender at the grille
-had a serious relationship discussion
-asserted my own emotional needs
-made a huge decision that ended up being a mistake
-performed a successful grab & snatch on a freshman
-developed a new crush
-drank porch crawler (yay!)
-hugged so many people I think I might just start doing that to everyone I see, it'll just be easier
-missed my best friend
-pulled a consistent 1:59 split at a rate of 23/24 for 5 500m pieces (!)
-not done the majority of my reading
-made a fool of myself in class, and then redeemed myself
-made a pretty bracelet
-had a heart to heart with a new close friend
I'm excited for what the rest of the month will bring, most definitely.
