Sweet memories, bitter taste.

Sitting here listening to these sad rhymes wishing that
I could go back in time.
Be the kid all the fools loved.
But now I need some shelter from that reflection in the mirror.
I'm aging, I'm turning to stone and there isn't a soul that
is there to catch me as I fall.
No more tears left to cry, hallow, coming out of one shell,
straight into another one.
It's ok, shake it off, start a new day. Keep the sweet memories,
and let go of the bitterness, the hate, the self pity.
Memories better than any high, smiles stronger than any drug.
It's kind of a shame you can't just stop to hear me out, take a breath.
In, out, full, empty, big, small.
I know I am always to blame and I will take it with stride.
I'll live in my rhymes, and maybe with time we can move on.
