Update: 101 in 1001

Feb 05, 2009 00:34

We're already on our second month of the new year, so it's time for a 101-1001 update! I can't believe it's already February. I live in some sort of time warp.

I don't think I have anything completely scratched off the list, but I'm starting to make progress. Definitely need to kick things up a notch, though! I'm considering making it harder, actually: example being, make "journal every day for a month" be a five-time thing. Things like that.

So, updates!
Read something cover to cover every month. January I read The Alchemist and this month I'm reading Bill Bryson's Shakespeare.Next month I'm expecting my two books from the Vicenza library to come in, so I'll have two weeks I think to read those, so that will put on some pressure. Time to start studying for the State Department exam! (which takes up two of my goals later on the list)
Run a half marathon I'm starting a training program to run a 5K, which will end in April, and hopefully I can find a 5K to run then. From there, I'll start the half-marathon training program!
Visit a continent other than Europe or North America Working on it! I'm going to Egypt in May, so that will check off Africa! (If you say Egypt shouldn't count as Africa because it's the Middle East which is its own geographic region, you can bite me. I'm counting it.)

I'm realizing a lot of my list is long-term items that will be difficult to check off, which means I kindof went against the guidelines, but whatever. While "Practice Patience" is not quantifiable, it's a good thing to do. The article recently posted on the community about how to achieve success in this kind of goal stated to write items in your daily planner to help you think about it. I don't have a pen-and-paper style daily planner, but I can put goals on random dates in my Google calendar.
