(no subject)
Eight days to departure! I leave Sunday, October 5,and will arrive in Munich at 7:40 a.m. Monday the 6th. Thankfully I have only one stop between San Antonio and Munich, and that's at Washington Dulles. The plane ride to D.C. is three and a half hours, and then eight hours and twelve minutes to Munich, then a two hour car ride to Garmisch. And then my new life begins.
I already know I'm going to get terribly home sick, but what a better place to be homesick than in the Aspen of central Europe? I think I'll miss Mexican food the most. There really is no substitution for it. Instead of Barton Springs, there's the Eibsee. Instead of Mount Bonnell I'll have the Bavarian Alps. Instead of freak ice storms, I'll have snow! Lots of snow! But really no replacement for Mexican food. Garmisch has lots of Indian restaurants, and Turkish and Persian and of course Italian and French, but no Mexican. As much as I enjoy Spanish tapas, it's just not the same.
The Jaegermeister there has codeine in it. Insane.
I'm going to start a travel blog, though I'll most likely keep this updated as well (although I really suck at it.) Once I get my address I'll post it here so you all can send me postcards. If you want one, send me your address! I love postcards.
I'm having a great weekend. I'm really glad I decided to have a going away party.
