warnings: None really.
effects: Happiness, love and adoration for her mother and father. Towards the end, feeling is cut off completely.
A little girl is seated at a table laden with tea cups, teapots and delicate cakes, swinging her legs freely under the table. Her blonde hair frames her face, but is held back by a light blue ribbon. Her face is flushed, completely ecstatic at the idea of being allowed to attend a garden party with her parents, but she bit back the glowing smile, favoring a small one instead. It was after all, more attractive for a young lady to have that as opposed to a broad smile. A tall, attractive man, that looks very much like her sweeps by, gathering her into his arms with a loud, warm laugh. If one looks close enough, there are faint marks etched onto the man's neck and arms but they're quickly covered by the girl's arms wrapping themselves around his neck who finally lets out a laugh of her own.
The following scenes are merely flashes of things: The little girl having to stand on her father's feet as he dances around the room to unheard music, a delicate woman smiling and sipping tea on a nearby chair, watching this transpire. A servant helping to dress the little girl in a dark blue dress, the same delicate woman, brushing back her hair and arranging it just so with a ribbon...
The next scene appears and the girl is in a white nightgown, seated in a bed, surrounded by lace and white, a tiny stuffed doll in her arms. A woman, with the same blonde hair is curled up next to her, with a large book open.
"What happened next, mother?" The girl urges, motioning for her mother to keep on reading. The woman lets out a gentle laugh pushing back the girl's hair from her face. Her arms are marked with faint silver lines as well, and they're visible enough to see when she leaves her hand on her daughter's head.
"You're just going to have to wait, my love." The girl pouts, crossing her arms.
"But I want to know what happens to Merlin and Arthur next! Mother, please!" her voice turns from demanding to whiny all in a matter of seconds and it makes her mother laugh as she moves down to plant a light kiss onto her forehead. She closes the book, edging of the bed.
"Tomorrow night, darling. Now go to bed. We're hosting a tea party tomorrow, so you need as much rest as you can get." The prospect of a party seems to please the little girl and she nods, snuggling under the covers. Her mother places the book on the bedside table before moving to tuck in the girl and placing another light kiss on her forehead. "Goodnight, my love."
"Goodnight, mommy," the girl replies, letting out a little yawn as her mother picks up the book, blows out the bedside candle and departing. She watches her mother's tall back as she leaves and gives another little smile before snuggling back under the covers, hoping to dream about fabulous social parties and dresses.
The scene fades to black, save for a sudden spark of something that looks like fire and bellowing smoke that creeps in from the blackness. The spark grows in intensity and it is very clear to any Shadowhunters or Nephilim watching, that the shape growing from the fire is a familiar looking Sight Mark. It glows brightly before fading to black completely.
[Jessamine wakes up, startled and is breathing rather heavily. The dream was fine up until the final part and even though it isn't explicitly stated in the dream, she knows what it means. She pushes herself up, and pushes her hair back from her face only to see the Dreamberry blinking on the bedside table.]
No...
[Her eyes are wide with alarm and she quickly reaches for it, hurrying to switch it off as fast she can. Her mouth is set in a firm, fierce line. Maybe if she's lucky, no one would have seen it.]
