My Mum was concerned that I wasn't eating enough red meat since I moved out, so she bought me a nice piece of fillet steak from her local butcher. And it was tasty indeed. I have to credit Nigella Lawson with the 'bath' recipe.
The steak was simply sealed on both sides in a hot dry pan, and then put in the oven for about 6 minutes at 180C. It could have been cooked a bit less, but it certainly wasn't dry. The steak was then placed in a bath made from olive oil, the zest and juice of one lemon, a sprinkle of oregano, salt and pepper, for 4 minutes each side. This gives it time to rest and soak up all the tastiness of the bath. It was then sliced up and drizzled with the bath marinade.
The potatoes were cut into rounds and placed in a baking dish with enough milk to nearly cover them. In the spirit of Nigella I put plastic wrap over the top and microwaved for a good 10 minutes to soften the spuds. Cheddar cheese on top, then put in the oven for about 15 minutes to finish cooking and brown the cheese. Simple.
