Sacramento's ridiculous heat has forced me to spend EVEN MORE time biking in the garage over the last couple of weeks, so I have yet more TV shows and such to recommend.
I put Shameless on pause because I ate through S7 and S8 in two weeks, thanks to the weather. I don't want it to be over too soon.
So, I started a couple of other shows and remembered a few I hadn't recommended before. All are on Netflix, unless otherwise noted:
Bodyguard - Political intrigue and mayhem in England.
The Night Agent - NOT the same show as the above, despite how much the lead actor and the background stories resemble each other. Political intrigue and mayhem in Washington, D.C.
Treason - More political intrigue in England, but with Ciaran Hinds.
Obliterated - A special ops team tries to save Las Vegas from a nuke. Fairly violent, with softcore porn and lots of action and havoc.
Bodkin - An American podcaster and a couple of British journalists go to Ireland hoping to solve mysterious disappearances in a small town. Codgers and dodgers!
Furies - Female assassins keep Paris' criminal underworld honest. Mostly via guns.
The Gray Man (movie) - Ryan Gosling stars as a burned CIA assassin who uncovers secrets that put him on the kill list. Includes Alfre Woodard as a retired badass.
Cold Pursuit (movie) - A snow plow driver (Liam Neeson) seeks revenge after his son is killed. Way more fun and humorous than it has any right to be!
The Bear (on Hulu) - A highly entertaining dramedy featuring Jeremy Allen White as a chef trying to save his brother's longtime sandwich joint.
Out in the real world, we saw Twisters last night. It was pretty good, though the wall-to-wall country music was hard on the ears. Urk.
