*And I don't meant the bird. :(
Uggghhh. 106 on Friday, 111 yesterday, 109 today, 109 tomorrow... We are looking at 100o-plus temperatures until possibly Tuesday the 26th, with most days between 107 and 111. This is Sacramento's nightmare scenario, where you get cabin fever in the summertime because you can't do anything outside. It's 90-degrees in the dark at 11 p.m., because it never fully cools down. HalfshellHusband went biking at 6:30 this morning, when it was already 85, and by 11 a.m. it was 96. The A/C is on almost all the time (mostly to cool the upstairs), and we have fans running continuously for any room we're in. I shudder to think what the electric bill for this month will look like.
Thanks to all of you who read and voted for Idol entries last week!
rayaso has moved into the Top 5, where writers were asked to produce a portfolio of 5 works.
His stories are listed here, with links to the poll for voting and for all the authors' entries. The voting deadline is Tuesday night. All of the authors put a lot of hard work into their portfolios, so please read and vote if you can! \o/
I've been going through the house and garage lately, trying to get all of our daughter's Polly Pocket, Barbie, and Hello Kitty stuff ready to sell. The first step is always matching all the clothes and accessories with each playset, which often requires extensive Internet research to determine exactly what those pieces are supposed to be! Followed by digging through mounds of stuff looking for them... I tried to keep all of that organized when I stored it away, and yet dolls are missing from some of the teeny-tiny playsets (one is missing all four of them-- how?) and some of the larger Polly Pocket sets are missing clothes and, of course, shoes. Those little shoes are exactly the right size to get sucked up by the vacuum cleaner, and when Googling "Polly Pocket shoes" to find replacements, the third suggested match is "Polly Pocket shoes in nose." Thank goodness we never ran into that problem! o_O
I've also been going through clothes and toys in the upstairs storeroom, which is hot. I had to take a shower and put my clothes in the wash when I was done today, but it was worth it. I have about 10 bags of stuff for Goodwill, plus some larger toys and a Hippity Hop. Also a couple of large pictures, if I remember to bring them downstairs before HalfshellHusband hauls everything away (ETA: sadly, I did not). And there is so much more to do... but probably a good time for it, since I can't do anything outside for at least the next couple of weeks. :O
ETA: Good grief, there's a thunderstorm going on (and lightning is the last thing we need). But will it cool anything down? NoOOOOooooo...
