Ha! The geese are nuts in Ohio too. They stop traffic...Kinda like that old kids' book, Make Way for Ducklings only in this case, Goslings! LOL They are EVERYWHERE! They seem to especially LOVE office parks. Hmmmm...

Are they year-round for you? I would think it might be kind of cold for them there, but I'm not really sure what they consider "cold." It rarely gets near freezing here except at night.

They never leave this part of California, but the ones that just returned to the office are there specifically to mate and cause trouble. No idea where they spend the rest of the year, but there IS a golf course nearby.

They seem to especially love parks and golf courses-- anywhere with lots of nice, green grass (they eat the shoots). We have nothing but meadows and some scrub grass at the office, so who knows what attracts them!

Now, the golf course along the river next to the bike path? Absolutely infested with them. To the point that I'm not sure how people are even able to play golf there. :O

We see them yr round if we don't have a severe winter. (so far this year). They LOVVVVVEEEE parks, and any place that has a lot of flat open space and yes, the grass like golf courses and not-in-use sports fields.

I used to have a goose who yelled and hissed at me everytime I stepped out on my second floor balcony. They're bold!

They will also nip, if they're really in a bad mood. And there's always this great picture from a genius meme (now corrected, because the original creator apparently could not tell the difference between a duck and a Canadian goose. SERIOUSLY?):

I can picture the idea of plastic swans festooned to the building roof. However, compared to other birds *like swans themselves who are viscious dinosaurs that will eat your coat* I don't dislike geese.

REALLY? Maybe that's why geese consider them 'predators,' and they can be used as decoys. They always look so tranquil...

Ugh! Geese! And their poop that's everywhere!

My husband hunts, and he says that with other game there are so many reasons to hunt them, from spending time with his sons to providing food for our family, but with geese, "it's personal". LOL! He still hasn't bagged one in all the time we've been married, so I get the personal thing.

I kept expecting a humorous twist at the end based on your writing style.

I kind of find them super-annoying. Canadian geese are protected, and I don't think I've ever encountered wild geese, but I can understand hunting them if you find them.

We used to live across from a place that used geese as 'guard animals,' so they would honk and squabble at anyone nearby. This was a semi-rural area, but unfortunately, in front of that house was where we had to wait for the bus to get to school every day. :O

Geese AND turkeys?! No thanks. I've never encountered either but always hear how vicious they can be. My mom has to evade a goose sometimes (someones pet apparently)
on her mail route and she has shared some funny stories about that!

As a person with a large yard, I've come to realize that most birds are incredibly territorial. And the bigger the bird, the greater the likelihood of that becoming a problem for _people_ instead of just other birds and animals. :O

Has your mother ever been bitten by that goose? They can be testy. :O
