Election Day-yikes!

Nov 08, 2016 11:41

While I want this to be over, I'm petrified of the fallout if American voters make the wrong choice this election. I can't vote until after work, as my polling place is back to being my local elementary school and there isn't enough parking. Before work is also school drop-off, so that wasn't going to work out ( Read more... )

So still no clue as to who, or what, has invaded your home?

I get frustrated with the allocated voting stations in my area: Provincial is an elementary school that is not easy to get to; federal is in a community centre, also not that easy to access. Ah well, the important thing is to be informed and vote.

I suspect those are mice or rats in there, but once they get up in the walls or between the floors, it's impossible to get them out! The best you can do is barricade them in and let them die. Last time this happened, The Whale was put out at nighttime and did his mousing duty. Current kitty, though? Fierce opponent of bandaid-wrapper bowties and other paper! Worthless at actual hunting. :(

I don't understand why voting is in an elementary school to begin with. Yes, they're widely located. BUT... they're used by actual kids during that before-work voting block. You can't park, there's a maze of kids being dropped off and wandering around, and from the kids' point-of-view, you really don't want a bunch of additional drivers around the school at that time. :(

I'll get there tonight, though. Might have to wait in line for a bit, but I will be there!

The kids in Tourist Trap County got the day off today because the schools were polling places. I just this minute figured out that's why school was out.

Now if someone could explain to me why they get Veteran's Day off on Friday as well I'll be less confused.

I don't understand using schools, though if you're going to, then keeping the kids away is probably the best choice. All of those unknown drivers in and out of parking lots and backing up all day long? *shudder* As a parent, I see the immediate danger in all that.

You know, Veterans' Day is a federal holiday that my office NEVER has off. That's okay, as we get two days off at Thanksgiving, but when the kids were younger, we had to scramble to cover the random daycare issue every year.

my polling place is an elementary school but i bet the kids had today off. they'd have to, since we vote in what looks a lot like a classroom, and the polls open at 7 in the am. (i voted early at city hall but four years ago i voted at the school.) having people vote at a school while class is in session is stupid.

it's too bad the kitty isn't a mouser. i mean, if she's going to be running around making noise she may as well be catching rodents.

At our school, voting is in the library, and it's still a school day. So, that just doesn't work well.

The current kitty is such a useless hunter! She's one of those cats that just stares at bugs, like, "Huh?" instead of "Rowr!"
