!!! i love this! i love that boyd sees god (ish) in a hospital bed instead of in prison, and i really love that he thinks it's raylan's doing, because raylan shot him and could have killed him but didn't. because OF COURSE boyd's big life-changing event would involve raylan. :D

and also, you know, any fic that believably gets inside boyd's head is totally fine by me.

also also, f/x has started showing previews for the next season, and i am EXCITE.

I really liked that whole turn of events in S1, and it was clear that Boyd was genuine in thinking it was an opportunity, even if Raylan didn't believe him (and who could blame Raylan for that)?

The "Luck Has A New Look" prompt didn't grab me at first, but when I thought of Justified as the fandom it all became completely clear.

I love these characters, and my husband's been grousing about why Justified hasn't started up yet-- even though it hasn't been a full year between seasons. But January! All that and Sherlock too. :D

I love this! Justified is one of my favorite shows. I had no idea there were Justified fics out there. Good job!

There are definitely fics, though the fandom is pretty small. But there are some terrific writers in it!

This is a lovely Thankgiving fic let! You have captured interior Boyd very well.

I hadn't thought about the timing, but you're right-- it matches up well with the holiday!

Boyd is such an interesting character. The way he and Raylan pull in different directions and yet sometimes come together is part of what makes this show so fascinating.

I totally agree; the dynamics of their relationship is what attached me to the series.

This is a lovely little story. Boyd's headspace is a difficult thing to capture, but you do it well.

Thank you so much! He is a fascinating character, but tricky to write at times. I really liked this particular episode in the show, because the viewer feels Boyd's sincerity even though Raylan doesn't trust it, and you kind of feel bad for Boyd-- and that will just increase tremendously over the course of Season One.

I saw that you recc'd this for crack_van. What a wonderful surprise!

:-) Well, it's a lovely fic that gave me such a good feeling I wanted to end my recs with it.

You give a great description of the effect that moment had on me too. When he was introduced, I was all ready to love to hate Boyd for an episode and then never see him again, but by the end of it I felt for him in a way I'd never expected to, and that just didn't go away. I love Raylan, but Boyd makes Justified what it is for me.

but by the end of it I felt for him in a way I'd never expected to, and that just didn't go away.I was crushed for him, the way things went near the end of S1 when his faith was not only destroyed but all the people he'd led toward better things right along with it. And, of course, more hurt because Raylan still didn't seem to believe him. It's a little like the "Smallville" effect-- you can't help wondering whether what affected the villain's direction the most was the lack of support given by the one person who could have swayed them toward the good ( ... )

Thank you!

I loved the Season One arc of Boyd's story-- it was so unexpected, and you just get drawn into that character and then torn in seasons to come because you know he is capable of better than he is choosing to do.
