Yay! Disturbing and/or haunting were exactly what I was going for here. I'd hoped it would read like a fairytale in which there would never be a happy ending.

:D That's exactly what this is-- a combination of both!

As with so many dark fairytales, too, the evil preys upon the kinder instincts of humanity. It's doubly unfair.
