I've been feeling the "blahs" a little over the last couple of months. Our ridiculously prolonged winter might have had something to do with it, or I need to see about increasing my meds.
I biked to work yesterday-first time in a couple of years. The trip in is made more challenging by my NOT being a morning person. Wow-very obvious yesterday. The route back is longer and hotter, and there's almost always a headwind, but yesterday was great. Hot, but totally manageable. On Monday, I wasn't sure I was going to do this because my rear tire suddenly started to wear through and fixing flats has been a nightmare for over a year. But I sent HalfshellHusband out for a Bontrager tire (the kind that came with my bike) as a replacement, and getting that back on was easy compared to the suckage of my more recent tires. Whoo! Hope to ride again next week: 15.5 miles in, 17.0 back. Not bad!
We watched Tremors as our family movie last week, because it was time for the kids to be introduced to the "wisdom" of Val & Earl:
"You see, we plan ahead... that way, we don't do anything right now. Earl explained it to me." "Running's not a plan! Running's what you do when a plan fails!" "I vote Outer Space. No way these are local boys."Christopher was pretty nervous at first, but I told him that the movie gets funnier and less scary as it goes along. It's kind of a monster-movie for people who don't really like monster-movies.
On the Netflix front, we've started watching Luther. I blame
nrrrdy_grrrl, and her random picspams for that. Idris Elba is just too damn good-looking to resist, and the character is interesting. \o/
Family front: both my parents are having some health issues (both need better meds), and my Dad randomly decided to take off on a driving trip to Utah last weekend-AFTER he'd fainted at the supermarket a few days earlier, and with my mother's afibrillation not fully under control. And they're both doctors. *grinds teeth* That's my Dad-always making the decision he wants to make, and rationalizing away all of the reasons he shouldn't. And my Mom? Always enabling him and his poor judgment. Gah! One of my sisters has lobbied for them to sign papers to let her be a healthcare advocate for them, and they clearly need it. Let's hope she can help straighten them out. :(
