Fixing the car was always his special thing, his and Dad's. Everything he learned, Dad taught him-replacing parts, or devoting long hours to breaking the engine down and rebuilding it. It was Dad's way of showing trust.
Sam never wanted to learn, or had they made it impossible for him to try? Dean can't remember.
Now, biting his tongue while Sam finds his way around the engine, Dean realizes it's overdue-this legacy, this trust.
He should've shared this with Sam sooner, years sooner.
But God, even now… how he wishes handing it over actually felt like a choice.
