this was what i posted in the Jacob comm, sortofbeautiful.

"my eyes were rolling so hard when i was reading that it was hard to find my place.

i, personally, think she's still smarting over fandom's reaction to Breaking Dawn and a)wants to attempt to punish us and b)she's afraid there will be the same kind of backlash over Midnight Sun.

i say, whatthefuckever SMeyer. if the material is good, people will buy it no matter if they've already partially read it or not. why don't you concentrate on that sweetheart and not how you've been OMG!SOWRONGED!"

i totally get her betrayal over someone she's close to leaking this, but if she's SO SURE she knows who did it, why not confront just that person and not bring the drama to her fans. a simple statement saying that the copy was leaked and it wasn't a polished copy and that she'd like for fans to keep an open mind or whatever would be sufficient. she's a drama queen and i'm cynical enough to wonder if this isn't an attempt to keep her name on the lips of fans and media alike. especially considering the less than stellar reviews Breaking Dawn has been getting from pretty much everyone except the Twilight Lexicon people.

it's the technology age, Steph. embrace it and know that without it, you're series wouldn't be half as popular as it is. i would have never heard about the books if not for livejournal friends and fandom in general. the internet can pretty much make or break things in the entertainment world. i think she's seeing how quickly things can turn when you put out a piece of entertainment that didn't live up to the previous works(not even a little bit). especially when the characters we've come to know and love are so completely out of character that it's mindblowing.

i think i'll stop there, but there's so much more i could rant about.

{{smooch}} thanks for that info and rant. really, i can do nothing but agree with you. *nods*

as for the drama around Breaking Dawn, i would have to read the books again to fully understand the "outrage" or other issues with the characters. on hindsight, i guess i may be able to agree with the characters being "out of character" somewhat. of course i tend to skip over that stuff and just get the general gist of the story. *g*
