1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

I have an impossible time picking "favorite" movies. I'll go with the Top 15 Movies I'll Confess I Own.

(LotR omitted for just being too blamed obvious.)

1. "Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long, -----."
~ The Third Man (rosamund)
2. "You can't alter human nature."
"No? I think you can do even better then that. You can ignore it!"

3. [too much brilliance... can't choose...!]
a. "Life in a box is better than no life at all, I expect. You'd have a chance, at least. You could lie there thinking, "Well. At least I'm not dead.' "
b. "I think I have it. A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself."
c. "Shouldn't we be doing something... constructive?"
"What did you have in mind? A short, blunt human pyramid?"
d. "I don't believe in it anyway."
"What?"
"England."
"Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?"
~ Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (eru)
4. "Nobody can stab a corpse and not know it."
"Really? When was the last time you stabbed a corpse?"
~ Gosford Park (lareinenoire & rosamund)
5. "Well, I've been listening to my gut since I was 14 years old, and frankly speaking, I've come to the conclusion that my guts have shit for brains."
~ High Fidelity (eru)
6. "What are you afraid of, a fate worse than death?"
"No, just death, isn't that enough?"
~ Clue (ariellynn)
7. "This is a revolution, dammit! We're going to have to offend somebody!"
~ 1776 (lareinenoire)
8. "My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are troubled."

9. "You know what they say, neurotics build castles in the sky, psychotics live in them."
"Psychiatrists collect the rent."

10. "I'm a Jew... I'm small... I'm homosexual... and I live in Sheffield. [pause] I'm fucked."
~ The History Boys (which I got to see on B'way before they made it into a movie!) (lareinenoire & rosamund)
11. "Apart from the way He moves, what's God really like? I mean, what colour is He?"
"He's all colours of the rainbow, many-hued."
"But He is English, isn't He?"
"Oh yes. Very upper class. "

12. ["Besieged" has no "quotes" section! Philistines! Ah well... here's one with a few superficial similarities:]
"Yeah, you have to sleep together and run away, as soon as you let some sort of intimacy develop it's... I dunno, it gets crazy. "
~ Better Than Sex (eru)
(Superficial similarities to Besieged probably boil down to (a) sexiness with (b) an actor I like whose first name is "David".)
13. [some less famous ones from an extremely famous one...]
a. "Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away."
b. "Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?"
~ Monty Python and the Holy Grail (eru)
14. [I give up narrowing it to one.]
a. "You're a piece of work. A Jewish fascist!"
"And you-a wealthy communist!"
b. "I am faithful to the ideals of the party."
"I am faithful to the party of ideas."
"You are faithful to the idea of a party."

15. "Why do you cut yourself, ---?"
"I don't know."
"Is it that sometimes the pain inside has to come to the surface, and when you see evidence of the pain inside you finally know you're really here? Then, when you watch the wound heal, it's comforting... isn't it?"
"I... That's a way to put it."
~ Secretary (argopelter)
