Kaiba couldn't believe he'd managed to get roped into having another Christmas party. Mokuba had been haranguing him for weeks about the "lack of morale" in the office. Hmph, as if he didn't pay them enough. Whether or not they were satisfied with their lives had nothing to do with him. If they wanted better pay, or better atmosphere (whatever that meant) they could leave. And  yet he found himself here, a fake smile plastered to his face, trying to find an excuse to leave before he lost his mind. He'd banished Mokuba to the mansion some time ago, using the excuse that there was alcohol around to rid himself of his presence. He loved his brother, but sometimes Mokuba's constant chatter about how important it was to present himself as a down-to-Earth guy around his inferiors was a little bit... trying. He was making an effort for him, if only so that he'd finally be left in peace. Various people came up to greet him and he sent them away as politely as he could. It was about 20 minutes into the party, just when he'd managed to get away from the crowd when he saw him.

Pegasus.

Dammit! Kaiba looked around hurriedly for an escape, but the path to the hallway was blocked by the buffet table. There was no way that the old man hadn't seen him. He looked pointedly away, trying to pretend that their eyes hadn't met.
