i really wish mccain would stop saying "my friend"
it's not that i don't want to be his friend. his favorite song is Dancing Queen. i'm sure he's a great guy to party with if you get over the fear of him dying during the party.
but there's two things about it...
one, it just sounds forced. it's not really in the flow of the sentence, so it just sounds awkward. maybe it's partly because he's not talking to any one person while saying it, he's saying it while wandering around the room, sometimes when he's just turned away from the crowd. it seems like it should be directed at someone, not just the carpet.
two, it's a phrase that's been most often directed at me by someone trying to haggle with me and, presumably on some level, pull something over on me.
