vying for dumbest cat in the world
one of my cats, which has never quite shown itself to be a bright little kitty, apparently decided to climb in the sun roof of our neighbor's friends van. not surprisingly, it didn't figure out a way to get out after that. more surprisingly, it didn't make any noise when he got in the van and started it up.
instead it waited till he got a ways away and then decided to start hissing at him. so he turned around and headed back home when the cat kept getting closer until he freaked out and decided to pull over and call animal control.
animal control showed up and opened the door to the van and the cat bolted.
he was on a freeway offramp which has a bunch of bushes next to it, so the cat dove into the bushes.
unfortunately the bushes seem to cover the area of like half a football field. so we spent a few hours walking around different areas calling for the cat, but with the sound of the 405 rushing by the whole time, so who knows if it heard.
i heard a very distinct meow very close one time, but it was just one which seems odd. other fainter meows were heard, but it's hard to figure out if those were real or not.
now we're trying to decide if we want to take his brother out there in a box and see if his caterwauling attracts him out or at least gets him to respond. i can't imagine him not getting bummed out if he doesn't come back, so i think it's for his own good in the long run.
