[Background]
PROFILE

[Personality]

An intelligent and reliable young boy. Initially, Genis comes off as a bit of a brat; because of his intelligence he tends to think himself above most people and often times he will point out other peoples mistakes (mainly his friend Lloyd's). His reliability isn't something that is first remarked on when first introduced to the character, but rather it's more of his cowardice. This is seen when is far too willing to run away from conflict when Lloyd is taken by the Desians and he is just seen as someone who is cast aside. However, Genis doesn't stay away for much too long before gathering their friends and coming to Lloyd's rescue. The cowardice that he sees in himself is usually nullified by his loyalty to the others that he has around him -- if only something of a rare loyalty as Genis has a prejudice to most humans (excluding the obvious). Though he doesn't allow this to make his judgments for him, he has seen a lot of humans do a lot of good things in the past (namely whatever Lloyd does when he's not messing up), but he has mostly seen and been on the receiving end of the bad. Something that tends to ostracize him from the rest of the world. Truthfully, in the beginning of the story Genis had not told anyone in the village of Iselia of his heritage because of the way half-elves have been treated in the past.

Genis is not the type of person to skip over details, even the smallest details. He does not keep his mouth shut when it comes to pointing out when things are wrong or when people are giving out the wrong information either. Namely when it comes to his friend Lloyd, more specifically when it comes to Lloyd. Despite the fact that they're best friends, he doesn't hesitate when it comes to calling him (or anyone else) an idiot. The reactions of the people he picks on usually end up having Genis giggling or being somewhat amused. Though when he picks on Lloyd the two of them generally go back to everything being right as rain a couple of minutes later. His teasing is just generally seen as a personality quirk and something that Lloyd doesn't take too personally.

Despite the amount of things Genis will tease Lloyd about, it's really more of just a way he can find fault in a friend he admires so much. Lloyd is everything that Genis is not. Where Lloyd will run into a fight, Genis will be shaking in fear. Though he remarkably always stands by his friend -- regardless of his fears during a situation. This is yet another show of his loyalty to his friends and also a show of his own inner strength. Something that Genis tends to overlook when he's comparing himself to any one of his travelling companions whom, he perceives, as all stronger than him. Genis is unwilling to look over many injustices to other people, be it anyone else picking on his friends or moments where other people would be too afraid to take a stand such as befriending Marble. He doesn't see this as acts of strength, however, but merely just him doing what is right.

When it comes to most of his more visible personality aspects, Genis is rather mature for his age. He has a curiosity for the world around him and often than not wants to gather more knowledge. Though to most he comes off as very childish, he quite mature for his age. Numerous times, he has come off as the most reasonable person in the group. Often times, he tries to see the diplomatic outcome of many situations. He's more of a lover, rather than a fighter even if he doesn't like most people. There is nothing else that he doesn't like more than to avoid a fight however he is willing to make a stand if he has too. Genis, though, would rather discuss things rather than use fists.

Overall, he does whatever he can to hide his own feelings of insecurities. He does what he can when it comes to his friends, even though he doesn't believe he is the type of individual people can openly rely on him to watch their back in a fight. When it boils down to it, Genis is a good friend and a genuinely good person. He does what he believes is better for the whole rather than for the one, even if it takes him a while to come to the decision that he has to do something.

[Abilities]

Genis is a particularly powerful mage and has mastered several elemental as well as healing spells. A longer list of what he has gotten down can be found here which makes up for his lack and knowledge of physically fighting off enemies. Another strength for him is his intelligence which seems to one of the main things he has going for him other than his magic. Genis uses an exsphere which (from where he's from) enhances the user physically. Being a half-elf he can also tell how much mana is in a area as well.

[First Person]

If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?

I-It depends. I guess. Lloyd and I were...Well, I guess if it's a hypothetical question than no. I think Lloyd and the others don't need someone who's just willing to run back home whenever they get the chance to do that and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't get too far without me.

You are on the verge of death. You know there is no way to survive and there's no coming back. Choose any of the following to answer: What is your last wish? Your last regret? Last thoughts? How do you feel? Who is the last person you think of other than your killer?

WHAT? T-That wouldn't be my last thought though. I don't think it would be. I think I would be too afraid to think of anything more direct. I mean, there's a lot I'm leaving behind and that can be seen as a regret that I'm only twelve and it's gotten to where I'm on the verge of death. I guess I'd probably wonder why I followed Lloyd in the first pla--wait, would Lloyd and the others be alright? I guess, my last thought would be of the others. I don't have anything to go back to when it comes to going home and Raine is part of the group as well. So it's...kind of like killing two birds with one stone when it comes to worrying about what would happen to the others.

Murder. What is your opinion?

Unacceptable. Even when you're killing people with a 'noble' reason it's still bad, or even out of self-defense. But unacceptable doesn't really mean unnecessary. Depending on the reason for committing the act should someone be judged. If some guy's just going around stabbing people with a sword just for fun, then it's a bad thing. But if the person has killed before because they were defending their friends and family, then it's something that's necessary for their survive.

You're dirt poor and your family is starving. You have a chance to steal bread. Do you: a) ignore it and get a job, b) steal it anyway because you know you won't get caught, c) get caught but break out of prison anyway, d) steal it and then hide from the creepy cop that keeps stalking you, e) don't steal because stealing is wrong :(. Explain why you chose that option.

Why is stealing ever an option in the first place? I would just go ahead and get a job. Raine w-would spank me if I decide to even consider stealing and i'd never hear the end of it from Lloyd if I actually did steal. Trust me, it's better if I just get a job. Even one just to get me some money.

What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?

I guess, having friends. Half-elves don't usually have the friends I have so it's sort of...out of the ordinary that they're even willing to be around me after finding out what me and Raine are. I don't think I'd like being alone that much.

Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?

Uh...no! I'm already pretty powerful enough. I know, I know. You're kinda jealous.

[Third Person]

He probably knew that it wasn't the same as actually joining in the group when it came to a fight. Genis would be the first to admit that he wasn't the bravest amongst the group of travelers. There were much braver. When one was to compare him to the likes of Kratos or Lloyd; the half-elf would fall short of any expectations people may have when it came to the people who had started on the journey of restoration. It wasn't that he wasn't strong, they all had different ways that they displayed their power. Most of the time he was confident in the magic that he used. He had to be. The others were dependent on the healing magic he performed, he provided a nice backdrop when someone needed a teammate. Genis was a lot of things when it came to the team but the one thing he felt as though he was not was strong. When it came to having to be compared to everyone else -- how could anyone think he was brave or strong was beyond him. But he tried. He tried his best.

Most of the enemies they fought looked over him because of his appearance. They over looked him because when it came down to everything, he was still shaking in terror when a fight would break out because he honestly didn't believe he could handle the situation. Just like now. Genis had bolted, saving himself rather than his friends. There was regret hanging over him of course. Lloyd trusted him. Colette and Raine did too. He was sure the others relied on him as well. The impression he was making on Preasea and Mithos was, more than likely, an embarrassing one. But he was still standing by his decision to make it as he moved through the foliage before tripping over a raised branch and listening to the Desians behind him come to a slow halt. He didn't have to turn around to know that they were already ready for battle. It was really fear that got in the way of him making more intelligent decisions about what to do if he was facing a situation like this. If he had stuck with the group, they would have easily overpowered them. But when it was one against three, the odds of him winning were very slim.

Genis scooted across the ground before pressing his back against a tree. He wasn't the type to beg, but he was the type to bargain. If the situation called for bargaining that was. The pre-teen reached into his pocket before pulling out his kendama, earning a couple snickers from the confident Desians. "If you let me go, I'll give you this!" He offered up, which just about ripped laughter out of the trio as he started playing with it. "It's a great gift for...well, just about anyone." The Desians looked on at the little half-elf as he demonstrated by bouncing around the little toy before one of them scoffed loudly. Obviously they had wasted their time following this one around when their focus should have really been the others. "This kid's just a waste of our time." One remarked rather loudly as another started walking away, shaking his head with a laugh. Their guard falling as Genis stood up on trembling knees before holding out his hands and allowing the energy to roll through them before saying an quick incantation under his breath before lightning rained down on them, leaving the trio scattered before Genis started walking away with a smug look on his face.

"Amateurs."
