TWtWB is an Australian film that I actually wanted to see. (Wot?) I quite enjoyed it myself. Of course, I was also geeking out by identifying the equipment used by the "enemy" soldiers, and squeeeing that the SFX people had done enough research to make the "bad guy fighter" into a recognisable J-10 rather then some generic blobjet.
And yes, good sotry and chracterisation to. And it has the best "bait and switch" trailer ever.
True. It's been years since I last read the books but I don't remember him being anything like that. I can see how they changed him for sort of comic effect, but they make him seem stupid and I remember Chris in the books being quite smart.
He was smart, and lightly built, not freakin' Jack Black, and into poetry, and I never pictured him as a stoner -- he was into drugs, but I didn't think of him as just a plain old pothead.
But the contrast between that characterisation and the sheer horror of the situation he's actually describing is so well done, it's a shame more people don't get that.
