I got a bit overexcited in the last post - Christmas special won't be on ABC until the end of the month.

( On the other hand, I got to watch it on Wednesday night anyway. )

I'm seeing the crits but they're not registering because GIANT ROBOT GIANT ROBOT GIANT ROOOBOT. It IS a Christmas special, after all, it's allowed to be insane.

I've never understood people who expect Doctor Who to be serious. My sister told me lots of people hated the Agatha Christie episode and I just said "Whyyyy? It's so funny." Apparently that's the problem. The show has other things that niggle me sometimes (I have some odd pet peeves about dialogue that have me fussing over nearly any show) but people seem to expect Doctor Who to be a genre show when it really isn't. It's a show with many registers, and it's fine if you only like the serious one or the funny one or the scary one, but don't bash it just for HAVING three different settings.
